Hey, how's it going? I'm new to this forum and to dirt bikes actually. I acquired this bike a couple of weeks ago for $400 and I'm slowly fixing her up and learning what's going to work and what's not. I don't have issues using search and I'll gladly spend hours researching something before I ask a question.
Anyway, here's my bike.
So far... I've took apart the carb and cleaned it, new spark plug, new stator, air filter, and up next are the tires, throttle tube, and adjusting the suspension.

It runs pretty solid, it had issues starting at first but once I did the tune up, it kick starts pretty easily.

I just finished an 88 RM250 build. It'll be a lot easier finding parts for your 87 as the 88 was a one year off model. Keep us posted as to how you're doing!

I would buy the shit out of that bike for $400 --- great deal!!! I raced that model a few times back in '89. It was a low end tractor motor, very easy to use. At the time I was a novice, I remember it was a lot of fun. Good suspension - cartridge forks and in 87 they put a real linkage on it instead of that weird bearing thing they used in 86.
The goofy old layout is still goofy, but the front fender has actually grown on me again in recent years.
That bike would be a lot of fun for vintage racing!
