We get that on Heroes channel and I watched the whole thing. Very interesting. Found out things I missed in school back when I didn't pay attention to things.

If you guys like that then you would really dig the documentary called World Wars ,i think the discovery channel did it. They have it available as a box set.

My wife and I watched it all weekend once. Great series. Her Grandfather fought in Guadlyl Canal (sp?) on of only a handful of his unit to survive. He passed in February with a military funeral.

I've seen most of the documentary's that you all have listed. One of my all time WWII favorites is "The World At War". Not sure who created it, but it was a really good series.

The new one on ww1 is great. Rob Lowe does the narration,he was Sherrod in the ww2 in HD.

What was had to get the head around was number of shells, like in one battle in ww1 they put out 200,000 shells each side a day. Figure that to the minute, mind blowing.

Like most of their stuff, it's overly patriotic, in terms of the larger conflict that was going on. The American presence is dwarfed by the scale of the eastern front. There is a documentary from the BBC made in the 70s called "The World at War."

The bbc documentarys "the world at war" and "the Great War" are the 2 best documentaries about ww1 and ww2. Both give a sense of how fucking horrific it must have been in the words of the people who were there. Such a shit time to have been alive, I'm glad Im wasn't a part of either generation.

Russia would not have been successful if not for our manufacturing. The tanks but most important was the studabaker trucks.

Overly patriotic?? Damn, you must be one miserable human being to be around.

Yes, mindless and delusional flag waving is not only stupid, it's dangerous. The very fact that you are trying to paint me as "miserable" for having a realistic understanding of history only shows the potential pitfalls of the "'murcia" mentality. It's easy enough to take a look at subsequent wars and figure out how that overconfidence derived from World War II ended up costing countless lives.

Then again, you're a racist, bigoted, intolerant, and illiterate porch dick. It probably won't be very easy for you.
