Hello every body my name is Roger I have just picked up a sweet low mileage(119xxx) older van (1998 chevy 2500 ext.) for a good deal. I am looking to build this van into a moto van / road trip van. I live in lawrence kansas and go to KU currently so funds are a little tighter than normal but really trying to make this happen! I have already ordered window tint, should be here tomorrow as well as a head unit the sony xavax100 and have torn out the radio and the dash. Check out the pics below of my van! The first issue I have already ran into is the stock radio is 1.5 din and the one i bought is double din. Has anyone gone about changing this? I was looking at getting some sort of kit from metra but not really sure what the best way to do this is. Any help would be appreciated.

Thats rad, what a coincidence, the van i jsut picked up is also a 1998, but a Ford. (see THIS thread) I am also going to be building a stereo system in it, but mine is all set up for double din.

Is there a kit you can order? Ill do a search and see if i can find anything for ya.

Here is my ride:

Thanks for all the responses so far, I will post as soon as I get some stuff in the mail. I will probably have to cut the bezel and get a perimeter kit and relocate the heat and ac panel to the bottom. I will post pics when I get it all figured out. OC your van looks super clean so great find! mx295 I will give him a call this week when the stereo arrives thanks for the network! Colintrax, I saw your post and copied it actually, but wanted to move categories so no one got upset. Thanks for the advice!

Ah ok, didn't realize this was a new post. Go to crutchfield.com and use their live chat thing, they'll show you what you need. They're a bit expensive but free shipping, free diagrams/instructions, and 24/7 support is awesome. I've found their dash kits are better quality than the crap at walmart and most audio stores too. Nothing worse than a shitty dash kit that breaks and rattles around or shows gaps.
Good luck man! You'll soon have lots of blood, sweat, and tears into that van.
