In the last 3 or 4 months i have put about 300 miles on an old bike i picked up at local church for $25, old raleigh detour.
I'm really enjoying it and am looking to upgrade to something a nicer and lighter.
Looking for something for long rides, something comfortable.
Not really familiar with brands, so not picky there, but would like to stay under 2K.
Visited local SCOTT and SPECIALIZED dealers and the nicer stuff is not in stock.
Any brand recommendations? Models? Components?

Felt z100......
I had a Felt Z55 (I think it was) with a mix of carbon fiber parts and Dura Ace components. Nice bike.

Are you only interested in brand new bikes? You can get a very nice used bike for ~$2000

There are more bike options than ever available. I like Cannondale for road frames because their geometry suits me. Last week a friend passed on his titanium Motobecane CX bike with an Ultegra groupset. It’s not a bike I would have bought for myself but I’m really surprised by how well it feels on road rides. Those are avail on:

Try to get a bike with a Shimano 105 or comparable components. It’s durable, serviceable, and high performing.

Don't be afraid of used bikes. You can grab some great deals right now. I bought an older Cannondale a little over a year ago with HUD wheels for basically the cost of the wheels. After riding a friends Trek this spring I made the switch to a Domane 6 that my son found for sale and man what an upgrade. I put new bar tape and the HUD wheels on it and sold the Cannondale with the stock wheels off the Trek and came out smelling like a rose. There's deals to be found. And like mentioned the Ultegra stuff is what I'd be looking for as far as components. .

I have a Marin Cortina cx, bike is awesome. I think it was approx. $2500 retail new and it is full carbon, disc brakes, decent 105 drivetrain. As long as you aren't going to race and don't care that it's not the lightest thing ever, I'd recommend a cx bike. Good brakes, similar geometry to full on road bike and can take a good beating offroad/gravel.

Thanks for the input guys.
Reason for purchasing new is that I will be purchasing 2 bikes, one for the wife.
Easier to pick up two bikes at local shop and most shops willing to give me a decent deal when I purchase two.
In the next week or so I will be stopping by a shop to see Trek Domane and Scott Addict.

You might want to consider my offer because my wife bike is for sale too. She never got into it. Haha. Has maybe 300 miles on her Marin. I dropped $2200 for both of them when we initially were getting into it. But now with two kids it’s not possible for us to ride.... Would sell them both for $1200 shipped now. Think of them as like a vet owned 450. They’re more polished than ridden. Ha.

And I’ve found as long as you don’t ride the super nice shit you never know what you’re missing. Dura ace—-you don’t know what you’re missing If you never ride it.

Regardless....alot of good tips in here. You’ll find something and be happy for sure !

I hope you can find a new Trek in stock. My wife is getting into riding longer distances with me and needed to upgrade her FX 7.1. We ordered a Trek FX Sport Carbon 4 about two months ago and they told us to expect a early Nov delivery.

Pretty much all bike mfgrs have a "endurance" road bike in their lineup. Something with a longer head tube, more relaxed than their full-on racers. I went from a Specialized Allez to the Roubaix back in 13' because I was doing less sprint rides and more distance stuff. It's been a great bike. I use it on the after work sprints, as well as century rides. With 26mm tires, it really is comfortable.

I don't know about other parts of the country but in So Cal / LA area all the bike shops are cleaned out. I even asked one if they were going out of business because they were virtually empty and he said no ... that people are buying like crazy and the supply lines are all messed up for them to restock.

Yea, I wanted to buy a new mtb in 21', but I said screw it, I'm going to spruce-up my current steed and wait until 22' to pull the trigger on a new one.

You have to be prepared to hunt out the bike you want in the size you want. Trek store in Chicago told me end of April for a bike I was looking at, found it the same day in stock at another bike shop.

Have a look at the Canyon Bikes
Great deals, delivered to your door, and a easy return offer if the bike isn't right for you

Also take a look at gravel bikes, they do it all, and have room for wide tires, very fun bikes
