Did any body just see that crash? I was away from the TV and when I came back I saw Simoncelli laying on the track without his helmet!!! The announcers said that Rossi and Edwards hit him and couldnt avoid him. I hope he is ok..

Yep such bad timing of how the crash happened, it's exactly what happened to me yesterday (bad timing coming together) in a car accident. Very sad day for MotoGP

I saw it happen. As soon as you saw it, even at regular speed you knew it was going to be bad. After reviewing it in slo mo to see what happened it appeared that Colin had nowhere to go and his bike hit Sic in the upper body. Val was trying to avoid by going farther right but it looked like possibly Sics helmet was hit by Vals fairing. I could be mistaken as its hard to make out. I know riders see lots of injuries and even a few deaths at times in their careers. But when you are involved in an accident that takes a life even though no fault of your own, I have to wonder what kind of toll that takes on you? And in this case these guys were friends. Sad Sad day. My condolences to Sics family and all his friends and fans around the World.

Yeah some guy had his lights off in a van and I was turning through a green light behind 2 other cars and straight into him, it was like a ghost had come out of no where and hit me. I just saw him before impact, 3 things came into play. 1) Theres a crest just passed the lights so you cant see oncoming traffic to far away 2) There was 2 cars in front of me doing the same turn so it made spotting a van with no lights on in a dark area not really visible, if I was the only car turning right I would of seen him I'm sure. Pretty much everything timed just right for me to get hit on the left front, airbag hit my chest hard so got some bad bruising from that now and no car to drive

Thats weird for sure, when I found out I turned on the sports channel for MotoGP and didn't know what was going on as it said race canceled, then they were talking about the riders involved and 5 mins later Marco was announced dead on the bottom of the screen. Really bad crash from video I saw on youtube, Edwards and Rossi must feel so bad right now but there was nothing they could do with Marco coming back right into there path Sad

Really sucks as I got to see him finish his last race last weekend, got a few podium shots of him to

Unfreakinbelievable. I loved his aggressive riding style and raw talent. He had such a bright future ahead of him. As much as I love the Americans, I found myself pulling for Simo every race. Sad day indeed. R.I.P and prayers to his family.

Man that sucks Twisty, but glad you are ok buddy! Was your car totaled? I have heard when airbags are deployed it is pretty gnarly, must of scared the shit out of you!

I saw a few of your pics from the MotoGP you posted, they were awesome, so you have a link to the full gallery?

I cant believe all the tragedy lately, did you see all the stuff they did for Dan Weldon at the V8 Supercar race that he was sposed to be in this weekend?

I also read over in moto that now Josh Litchles fiance was also killed in a car crash!! that poor family....when is this shit going to end?

I am very stunned by this, it reminds me of when Ayrton Senna passed away as I was such a big fan of both of them.

RIP Marco

Just saw the accident, saw this thread earlier and didn't click it because i thought it might be announcing he won the race .He was my favorite rider after Rossi. His aggressive style made him one of the most exciting riders on the track. Just really fuggin sad.

RIP Marco!

Yes Dougie, it does take a lot out of you, you NEVER forget that day.... Sad

Dec 2, 2011 will be 10 years since my good friend Mark Anderson passed away when I crashed on a blind triple jump that should have never been there on a GP course at SpeedWorld. I still think about Mark a lot (especially behind the starting gate) and after last Sundays Indy race when all the racers were waiting for the news about Dan it brought back sad memories.

I called home to tell my Dad about it as he has been a Indy fan since the 60's. I couldn't finish talking before I broke down....

It's been a real SAD WEEK, not sure how much more of this I can take if racing anymore is worth it....

RIP Marco, you were a fantastic racer and charasmatic person--you will FOREVER be missed. My prayers go out to his friends and family....

Yeah car is a write off for what it's worth, its just a standard 96 Ford sedan. I'm feeling it bad today, my whole upper body is so sore especially after last night as it's the first decent sleep I've had so really stiff now.

I only have some pics up on Facebook and haven't even posted the MotoGP ones yet apart from Stoner and one for Simoncelli after last night, I know ya don't use it but this should be viewable as it's public. Would of liked to have gotten different angles but I just had a general admission pass which I got free and stayed in one spot as I was along the fence and couldn't be bothered with the crowd being in the way

I saw what they did for Dan over the weekend, pretty cool they made a trophy for the event named after Dan. Been a really bad passed week for anyone who likes motorsport

gotta be one of the worst days ive had in a long time.

al davis dies a couple weeks back

last week, dan wheldon dies. a close friend of mine owns that that team. ive spent a bit of time in their pits.

just minutes into the raider game today, we throw a pick 6. so im feeling pretty low at that point

minute later, i get a text from a friend notifying me of the simoncelli tragedy. at that point im just gutted. in a bit of shock. and just wondering what the hell is going on.

and literally moments later, i call an old teammate to discuss the simoncelli death, and he informs me that my old mechanic (from my racing days) has died from cancer. i didnt even know he was sick.

(and as trivial as it is, the raiders end up getting blown out in spectacular fashion).

im at a complete loss of words and emotion right now. just a strong series of punch's to the gut the last couple weeks. with today taking the cake.

right there with you Mod, as a 25yr old who has been following RR religiously since I was 10 this was a shot to the gut. the first people I thought about were Fausto Gresini and how this makes two tremendous talents who died far too yound while riding for his team first Dajiro Kato and now Marco. and Marco's little sister she is 14 now I believe and was his biggest fan all I could think about was her and how she is feeling.
