21 yr. old Chris Oliver has a 13 million + chip lead for the final 8 out of 1,560 entries in the Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure that pays 2.3 million to the winner. Chris raced with the FLVMX club until about 4 years ago when he began playing online poker. His dad told me last June that he was getting pretty good but I had no idea I`d be reading about him in 7 months leading a game with the Big Boys. 10k to enter with a minimum 202k to finish 8th and a hell`uva chance to win. I`d say dad was right. GO CHRIS!!!

I think you got it backwards. It should be; Poker player used to ride MX.

I never said he quit riding. What I said was he stopped racing with the club when he started playing poker.

Not being a poker player, is it strategy, skill or luck? Last year I played poker at this tournament to raise money for some cause. I was at the table with five guys. Three of the guys boasted of being "Pro" players. They were the first out. I went for about two hours and three more tables, my friend about three and on to the final table. I never could figure out the strategy other then just playing safe.

Looks like that Oliver kid ain't missed a meal or even tried staying in shape since becoming a poker pro.

Good luck to him though. Seems like he's doing something right seeing his chip lead.

He blew it, lost almost all his stack in TWO hands. Down to 11% of the chips. Bummer.

The answer, D all of the above. There is a reason you see so many of the same top players at final table appearances.

You have to incorporated skill and stategy, but without some luck there is little chance of winning.

Chris got a little over confident making the call with the 8-6 on Hall's all in. Maybe he had a bad read, or what ever but that was the beginning of the end.
