I have 3 kids in the 13-17 age range and those numbers are definitely accurate. I will say there are lots of "k", "no" and "y" texts but it takes true dedication and commitment to texting to reach those amounts. A text-only phone plan would be fine with them.

Someone told me they called their daughter and the daughter got really mad, saying that calling was "rude" and he should have sent a text.

I can say with pride that I donot text. Only time I did was while we were evacuated for Katrina. We did not have cell phone service, but texting worked. I leared how to text to keep in touch with family members we evacuated with. Once we got back home, I forgot how to text within a couple weeks.

I do text...but I'm in the 25-34 bracket, and apparently text less than the average 65+ person.

Many times texting is just easier. If you just want an answer to a question it saves alot of time. I found with my kids, they'll answer a text quicker than a phone call. Also convenient if you're somplace where talking on the phone is not practical like a restaurant, seminar, sporting event. etc

Yeah, but 100+ texts a day. There has never been a communication medium like that. It's interesting to me. I think young people like the anticipatioin of getting a text.

I agree, thats alot. I'm in the 45 - 54 group and I do text more than I call but I don't think text as much at they say above. I could be wrong but I don't feel like counting them either.

I know while sitting with my kids anywhere their phones are constantly buzzing. How can they possibly have that much to talk about? Blink

I'd be wearing out my phone within a month texting that much. I'm in the 30-50 text a month group. I prefer phone calls.....they go much quicker. I take that back....call me , leave a message and I'll call you when I get the time.

I text way more than I talk too. I seriously use maybe 50 minutes a month, but use well over 2000 texts a month, and thats on a slow month. I really just use calls if theres something immediate I need to know, like locate a buddy, make quick plans, stuff that requires clarification ETC. Thats about it. Otherwise, i fire off a text.

Just looking at my cell phone bill, which I recieved today from the fine folks at Sprint.....my 17 y.o.step- son texted 4,485 times. Thats down if i remember right from the !0.000+ he used to text last year.

Which is fine because he LOVES to talk...and if he wasnt texting his friends all the time he would be talking my ear off.

But its a bit of a dissorder if you ask me, for he cannot put the thing away. If we are trying to work together on a car or such, the damn thing is always humming and buzzing with the latest text. The car will have fallen on me...but he must first answer the all important text he recieved just prior, then help pull the car off my sunken chest.

I refuse to grab mine when I'm having sex (alone or with someone, doesn't matter, same rule applies). I don't wanna get mine all dirty.

I wish I could just disable texting on my phone. or have auto reply.. ( I don't fucking text. If you have something to say, CALL)

Been getting alot of texting spam lately. Now I know where to get the best deals on weed and porn.

for me, texting is great for a quick message like, "OTR" me and my wife use when we are heading home. Or a "hello" or "good morning" or pick up bread at the grocery store. Or even, "call me" for call when you get a minute.

My wife will have conversations via text. If it's conversational at all, I call. Plus it's handy to send a pic and a quick note.
