I love jamie fox, one of my favorite actors and performers....but does that bother anyone else?

Imagine if a white man had said that about another white performer??? Holy-outrage-batman....

Anyway...just surprised there has been no discussion of this yet...

I don't see it that way.

Just by reading what you posted I got, Michael Jackson was a black man like us and we are proud of him and his accomplishments. No racism taken here.

I think it's the "us" as in "only black people", that is causing the cocner, it's exclusionary. Exclusion leads to racism.

And the only part that I dont' like is that if a white man had said the same thing about a white performer that just passed away, there would be all kinds of outrage. And the double standard pisses me off.

Had he said, he's a black american and he bleongs to us, that would have been more accurate. The way he worded it , to me it comes off as a racist comment.

It wasn't just Foxx, P Diddy was also involved.

It honestly sounded like a pretty dumb thing to say. Belongs to us, just seems like he's calling ownership, and isn't that like saying MJ was their slave?

Doesn't the "US" refer to the USA .... as opposed to the rest of the world?

I'm gonna go way out on a limb .... and guess that no one involved at any level with MJ is willing to disown the sales $$$$ that came in from non-black buyers / sources.

I didn't see it so maybe Jamie was just playing to the crowd.

For the sake of clarity, he apologized both publicly and personally to her.
He meant it as a joke and it came out wrong, he admitted that.

I myself didn't watch, because I don't care for today's current crop or R&B artists, the songs or singers can't fade the talent that I grew up listening to, but I did hear Foxxs' comment and first thought "WTF is he talking about"?...
