Hey guys

Here for some re assurance mainly and here your stories. 7 weeks ago now I fractured my collarbone in a high impact supermoto crash. It’s displaced and tenting the skin. The NHS are pretty chilled and said it will heal (basically want to save money operating) however it’s been 7 weeks and I can still feel the bone ends moving, though it appears there slight callus near the break from last x ray. Is anyone living with a non union? As I don’t really want to go through surgery and sit here for another 6 weeks with no pay. What we saying vital? Surely some of you bad mofos have wrecked themselves!

Broke my right. Immediately fixed it surgically. Was riding in 4 weeks.

Broke my left….and….Did your same thing sort of. Conservatively managed it first. Then just ended up getting it the surgery. That process took 6 months but whatever. Glad I got it done. It just want right.

Plate it, and thank me later.
I did one in the dark ages before plating was a thing.
I was 17, and it still took forever.

I'm not a doctor but I'd say plate it. I've done the "wait and see thing" on my femur. I say sooner the better cause even then there's no guarantee. Good luck whichever way you go !

Yup, as I thought hardware would be the way forward. Frustrated with the NHS and there outlook, it isn’t causing me too much pain at the moment even if it hasn’t healed so I’ll probably try and live with it until I can deal with another 6-8 weeks off and then push for the op

That’s where I was and I had to get an orthopedic to rebreal what healed and fix it. frozen shoulder. It was horrible.

Why cant you work ? what type of work do you do ? I have never had to be out more than a day or two with broken collar bones or getting them surgically repaired but of course it depends on the job.

I had a non union after the wait and see method that the Dr recommended. Had it plated a year later and all good now. My sister-in-law had a non union and it was a 6 YEAR nightmare before it finally healed. PICC line, bone graft, etc. You don't want any of that. Get it plated and be done with it.
