College Softball

Dude! I am TOTALLY into the collegiate women’s fast pitch softball! (And not in a dirty old man kinda way!)

I played all but my senior year of collegiate baseball eligibility (and my dear ol’ Dad was REAL happy with me when a pre-baseball season dirt bike injury ruined my baseball scholarship!) and I still like baseball BUT even an old baseball player gets really tired of the baseball games dragging on & on & on while they scratch their balls, adjust their batting gloves, take 5 practice swings and wait on the coach to signal in a play…every DAMN pitch!!

The gals just frickin’ PLAY BALL!
Hell they rarely even change out the ball after a foul etc…the basball guys gotta have a new ball if it touches the dirt once!
And those gals go 100% all game and they make great plays etc!
I grew up in an OU house, (hell its damn near sacrilege to be from Oklahoma and NOT be a rabid OU fan) and I certainly root for them, but I actually attended OSU (after my 3 years of baseball at another school) and I like it when the little guy wins one occasionally!

Being from right here in Okc, the wife and I usually make it a point to get tickets to a session or two of the womens college world series when the best in the land are in town playing for their championship!
Its ALWAYS a great time to go out and watch em play in person! Good stuff! 😎👍

When my daughter played High School softball, we would watch the college World Series together.

We made it out for 4 or 5 OU home games and there's no doubt they are really tough to beat this year!
I’m betting the recent loss to OSU in the big 12 championship is gonna be a wake up call and they’ll be fired up the rest of the post season!
Another National title would be great but there are many programs that can compete well and if they’re peaking at the right time, OU can certainly be beaten!

I think its gonna be a great world series this year and we’ll definitely go watch a game or two!
There are so many cool traditions to see and the ball playing is always excellent! 🥎👍❗️

I love the game too. I think it’s the best competive sport on tv of all sports. The girls r intense the windmill pitching is amazing. Real high energy there always yelling and singing . I played fast pitch 5 and 6 th grade against other schools. Home run at every at bat but 1, I got a triple and I was pissed. But that was the only at bat that I went to full count and was a relived that I didn’t strike out. 9th grade a bunch of girls asked me if I wanted to start a league after school. It sounded like fun so I talked other kids into it. The girls named the team Tony,s Tigers we had more girls than the other teams and where pretty horrible but we had a lot of fun. I couldn’t yell at the girls because the ball went between there legs because they where girly girls afraid of getting the ball in there face or chest. A fast bouncing grounder coming at them and they move out of the way then run back to get the ball. It was pretty funny. So I just relaxed and enjoyed the game.

Well…I’d commented to the wife that OU losing to OSU in the Big 12 tournament might be the best thing that could happen to them and be a bad omen for the rest of the teams? I wondered if it would remind them they can be beaten and shouldn’t assume the other teams will be intimidated by their crazy won/loss record and give up. They absolutely trounced Texas A&M this afternoon 20-0. If they stay fired up and playing like they played today a back to back championship might not be too far out of reach!

2022 WCWS is off to a great start!
Texas comes out hot and puts UCLA in an 0-1 tough spot!
Hopefully our crazy Okla weather continues to cooperate after thunderstorms all night long and more predicted for later! It’s sure fun to watch these little gal’s compete! They definitely get after it and play some great ball! 🥎👍😎❗️

It’s been a GREAT tournament so far!

The wife & I looked at the bracket on Friday and took a gamble that OU would win their 2nd game on Saturday and bought tickets to the early session for Monday, now we got great seats for the OU/UCLA game before the prices went up and the good seats all gone!
Obviously being from here in Okla, an OU/Okla State final would be really cool, but regardless who makes the final, I’ve watched every game so far and all the teams are really good!
The little Florida Gator left fielder robbing a home run from UCLA was a great play and I love seeing that stuff!
Oh and good on Texas for coming back on Arizona and hanging around to play OSU tomorrow evening! 3 of the 4 teams advancing to semi finals from the Big 12 makes a pretty strong statement about the division! (Although OU & Texas are fouling it all up leaving for the SEC in 2025!)
Oklahoma is expecting some thunderstorms overnight but it’s predicted to have passed through and moved out of the area by sunrise, hopefully our crazy weather continues to cooperate and no games are weather delayed etc! 🥎 😎 👍

Had a great time at the ballpark watching OU & UCLA!
UCLA showed up ready to play in the 1st game and put another loss on OU! The 2nd game turned into a 15-0 smackdown for the Bruins to end their WCWS run.

It’s pretty compelling and ironic that the only three teams to beat OU this season are the three other teams that have made it to the semi-finals and playing for a chance to go into the national championship finals!

Its great that the fans show up, pack the house and cheer their heads off for these gals that are playing their A$$es off for the love & passion of the game!

Not really watching the College World Series much but count me in as a softball fan.

Got a Niece who is a top notch high school pitcher, threw 5 no hitters this year as a junior, had at least 14 strike outs per complete game that she pitched this year with her best game being 19 strike outs....absolute stud from the pitching circle. She's got 3, D1 offers on the table already.

Fun game to watch for sure.

We had a round of thunderstorms move through Okc early this morning with some heavy rainfall, but Hall of Fame stadium is a top notch facility with excellent drainage and field tarps etc!
They’ll have it pristine and ready to play by game time!

I’m ready to see how the finals shape up!
OU is on a tear BUT Texas really is a dangerous team and they have beaten OU once so anything can happen! It ought to be a great series!

And LungButter, it sounds like your niece is gonna print her own ticket to the D1 school of her choice with a high school resume like that!?
Its cool to hear about those little studs that can pitch like that!
One of my coworkers had a daughter with similar pitching record in high school and that skill set got her a full ride at a great school too!
She has since graduated with what was essentially a free college education thanks to her pitching!
Hopefully your niece gets the offer she has s dreaming of and gets a chance to play at the highest level, getting a degree while she is at it!
Maybe we’ll see her pitching in the WCWS in the next few years too! That would be fabulous!

My girlfriend plays for one of the pac12 teams that was knocked out... I had zero interest in softball but I love watching it now lol

It was a great tournament and I enjoyed watching all the teams play! I kind of expected OU to win as they’ve been about as dominant as any team ever has been this season, BUT there’s a reason they play the games!
A team might get hot at any time, just as UCLA & Texas both did on Monday and no one can ever be counted out!
OU definitely played a great tournament with SO many players making big time plays or timely hitting at crucial points along the way resulting in back to back titles for the squad!

Next season can’t get here soon enough!
