I was very disappointed with the performance. It's just Adam Lambert singing a Britney Spears-type song and going for cheap Britney-type shock value. As a whole, his album is a disappointment. Hasn't developed is own style. His song on there written by Pink sounds like him singing a Pink song, the one by Lady Gaga sounds like Adam singing a Gaga song - even the one I most looked forward to, written by Justin Hawkins of The Darkness and with Justin on guitar, sounds like Adam singing a Darkness song.
I totally get it - his management needs to cash in on his Idol fame so they throw something together as quickly as they can. But hopefully he'll have settled into his glam and classic rock roots by the next album.

During a couple promos leading up to it, they kept billing it as "Shocking". I guess that's what they were going for.

I only watched a portion of the rest, but it was so sleepy it looked like they wanted/needed something to create buzz.

That guy could actually make an impact on music with his incredible talent if he doesnt let the pop-culture machine screw everything up for him and turn him into total cheese like the rest of the shit they manufacture and churn out.

Touche. But I won't count him a total loss until he makes a real album. The guy needs to let the managers use him like they did for this first album, rake in a shitload of cash to gain some leverage, then after he's made contacts from a year or so in the business he can spend some time finding a real group of musicians that he meshes well with and create his own brand of music. Whether or not he does that remains to be seen, but I don't think it's a big surprise to see that his first album is geared towards creating a few radio hits. And as disappointing as it is, all the 13 year old girls who make up the American Idol core audience (excluding me and Void Main, of course), will buy his stuff.

"Pop Culture" has a large fan base because the sheep dont know any better and The Machine has been packaging crap and telling them its worth buying. These empty skulls will listen to any crap they package and tell them is good, you know that.

I believe Adam has enough talent to steer the industry back towards some good & innovative stuff AND become wealthy/popular. The entire scene has been bankrupt for some time and there is a huge talent/innovation vacuum, I think that guy is good enough to change things, IF he doesnt sell out to the current formula just to make money.

What was almost as fun was being a pre-teen and watching it all from that perspective. My friend next door had a big brother who was the classic long haired hippy dude. My aunt had 7 kids, so when we went to their house there was always crazy shit going on. The older ones had all the "Keep on truckin' " and "Make love not war" posters all over their rooms, another one had black light posters and Ziggy Stardust posters all over, another one was the long haired druggie, etc. Crazy stuff to watch when you were around 10 years old.

Speaking of the 70's...Cleaning out the garage awhile ago, came across a box of old pics and stuff, found this classic pic of me:



I was born in 69 so was just a kid. The pic and mounting scream "70's", to hang it on the wall there is a pull tab from the old style beer cans with a nail through it.
