Motocross pants and jersey, which ones?

After being out of the motocross racing scene for over 30 years, I'm looking forward to getting some riding gear before I get a bike.

So far I picked up some used Sidi Crossfires and I really like the fit.

What is a good reliable pants and jersey that will give great protection, is vented and doesn't need to be replaced because of cheap fabric or workmanship?

Iv used a few brands over the last 6 years, fox, shift, msr, answer, and fly. I have had the same fly gear for 2 years now, I think they have the best bang for the buck, their premium gear isn't outrageously priced and has been holding up good for me anyway.

I have been running the alpinestars tech star gear for 2 season and it is still holding up great !
It is pricey, but IMO worth it !

Looking at Klim pants. How good are they for motocross? Are they worth the cost?

I've had great luck with Thor, Fox is ok, Moose not so much. I mean the jersey isn't going to do much but Thor and Fox pants have good workmanship and offer good padding.

One of the best parts about the gear from 20yrs ago and today is how much air flows through a non-vented gear set. I would look like a half-mesh shirt wearin Jersey Guido if it wasn't for this. I wore some Fly gear for four seasons and the only issue I had was where the pipe rubbed the pant. I'm not a fashion statement makin kind of person.

As for Klim all I know is their off road (enduro, dual-purpose) jackets and pants are extremely good but pricey.

I like the Klim gear. Durable and pockets.
If you ride in the dust, you'll be filthy from the dust coming through the vented jerseys.
Next time I will probably get in the boots type pants. Outside, the legs wear from rubbing on things.

Check atomic-gear for Klim closeouts. One can mismatch easier with Klim, it's lot more laid back designs.

Thanks for all the input thus far, it really helps.

I was curious about the Klim Mojave pants. Will they will hold up after a crash and fall apart due to all the mesh?

Are all vented pants mainly for recreational riders and not motocross racing?

Ended up ordering the Fly Racing Mens Kinetic Blocks 2014 pant and jersey along with Thor MX Men's Spectrum Gloves 2015.


Now for the helmet which I have the Bell Moto 9 in mind.

jersey I guess will be the best option. I am a biker and needs stylist things. I grow my beards as well which enrich my beard growth and giver me a biker look instant.
