weird Chad Reed rumor

Edited Date/Time 1/27/2012 10:23am
My buddy who is an ex-pro and knows a lot of industry types still, says Chad Reed consults an astrologist before every race. And he said Chad Reed used some "magic rocks" (his words not mine) to attatch to his bike for luck. Anybody else hear this stuff? I know its bizarre

Didn't the guy who everyone thought was Brooks yesterday say something about magic rocks?

edit: Yes he (CLOS 157) did "Just ask him about the outback rocks he throws around in a box to get visions of how to proceed!!!"

Weird thing that Brooks used to run #157 back in 85-86 I think. I don't believe that guy was Larry but was there a guy named Carlos (hence CLOS) who had anything to do with L&M? Or is he just an LB superfan/unbalanced stalker?

Ha! Chad seems like a sober person, so it sounds unlikely, but I guess when so much is on the line, the more primitive areas in our brain have a tendency to be extra active! Smile

Let he who is without sin cast the first "magic rock".

Now that you mention it, I do remember seeing some of these falling out of his pockets when he was signing autographs at A1 this year.................

If it's true so what, I bet there is plenty of superstious stuf that all of them do. No different than Stewart and his cinnamon twists. Power to them if it works or it makes them ride better.Wink

You know what I heard about some of the riders.....

I hear that before a race they hold their hands together in this weird way and talk to a spirit that no one can see.
Then afterwards if they do good they will call out to the heavens giving thanks to this same spirit.

Some of them actually make signs across their bodies, wear "magic medallions" or point towards the sky as part of this odd ritual.

I know it's bizarre.

I had someone recently tell me that I should "ground" myself every time I ride- by mentally picturing myself attached to the center of the Earth. Then she gave me a little polished rock and told me to carry it with me on the bike. I forget what the rock is called but it looks metallic.. I'm not making this up. She was also deep into numerology and astrology,

Riders are fair game, their wife and kids shouldn't be.

of course he does. Us people from the Southern hemisphere do this kind of voodoo and believe in those rocks Smile He also paints his face the bights before races, put a toga on and does some weird dancing.

its 100% true.

not the weirdest rumor ive ever heard come from reeds camp but to be honest, the superstitious stuff isnt that uncommon in sports. anything to keep ones confidence up, no matter how silly, is fair game.

u do know that he is part aboriginal right? thats where his superstitions come from.
