I love the MRP. If you tack it to a plywood square it makes it a little more stable, but I don't think it is necessary.

The MRP is nice but a 5 gallon bucket works nearly as good.

I have the MRP, it's great. Still hard to mount a Maxxis tire, but not nearly as hard as wrestling it on the floor.

After watching that Transworld video about tire changing, I went out and got some scrap steel and manufactured something very similar myself. Round base, 30" of 2" square tubing for the upright, and about 18" of 1" round tubing for the top. Welded it all up, spay painted it black and it works pretty darn good for about $15. I'd post a pic of it but I still havn't figured out how do do that yet.

i built one for a school project a while back as well, sort of works ok, you can spin it around and lock it in place

If you do a lot of tire, especially different sized ones, the No-Mar looks like it could save you a lot of time and extra curse words.

$595 for this doesn't look too bad compared to the $150 retail for the MRP.

I bought the Harbor Freight one a few years back and it was more like $50 or $60. It's a good tire changer if you need to change more than just motorcycle tires but if you're just going to do bike tires, I'd recommend something like the MRP. I don't even use any of the Harbor Freight attachments when change my tires anymore. Just use it as a stand and use normal tire irons.

OK for some reason I thought it was more expensive, good to hear its cheap tho. It wasn't any good at changing bike tires? How was the reliability? Harbor Freight is the King of Cheap one time use tools
