MX is great live but it sucks ass on TV and is only watchable by hardcore MX fans...which totals around 100-200K in the U.S.
It would take a total revamp of the sport as we know it to ever make it a desirable package for the general public to watch. These riders should feel fortunate to be making what they do considering the lack of TV revenue
My God we can't even get it off the shit standard definition station MAV TV. I love MX but I find it hard to watch that blurry shit they serve us
BTW HB....had any good sex with any relatives lately? If so how bout some pics
Have a good weekend HB
Oh yeah "nobody makes money in moto, from the TV exposure!"
NASCAR Meanwhile, has a 10-year deal (2015-2024) with NBC, it's worth $4.4 billion... Nascar is receiving not
paying...
Even the a division like the 250 class has nothing like we used to see in the 125 class.
Not looking to start a 2vs4 battle but today's racing sure lacks, well, racing.
Case in point: this
Even non moto fans would get hyped up watching footage like that!
It costs much, much more to run a NASCAR program than moto.
Moto receives sponsor dollars from sponsors to have the TV program, so the sponsor can be seen by the viewers.....it doesn't cost them to do TV!
Do they get enough to pay for the TV show and turn a profit? You don't know until they publish those numbers, so you don't know.
Since they protect "their series" with guns and knives, you would have to assume they are turning profits!
If the car gets wrecked they turn it in as a hit and run
Pit Row
It just amazes me that there is money like that.
Indycar is like the moto of 4 wheel racing.
No sponsor... no ride.
However when they do go to the in-car in a F1 race it gets pretty exciting to watch
I hate to see it being done but I think it's time for some major rules/tech/mods deal to be put in place to try and even the playing field or I have a feeling this is a fast sinking ship. The local moto scene is crumbling since the 4 strokes came along and it's driving the common man out of the sport due to cost. Once that happens the Pro side of it better start being must see TV or it's going to slowly die off too. Less participants locally means less interest in the Professionals
Last year our local track had a race day where if you brought canned food to donate you were able to race for free. The turnout was amazing from what I heard. So without a doubt there is a financial factor at work here (I stayed last night at a Holiday Inn Express) but there is more than just money keeping our attendance down.
Track layout. Before they changed our local track into a track to get people reading for LL (we have two racers there now) we had 15 vet racers regularly. Now in the aftermath of adding a couple of jumps and whoop section only THREE racers show up.
Not everyone wants to be the next RC or RD.
