2strokes are dead Give up on them. Two strokes are the 8 tracks of motocross. The factories don't want them anymore. Pros don't want them no matter what you think. Outside of a few hard core guys, local guys don't want them. Bitch all you want, but moto guys spend thousands of dollars on shit they don't need. What is a grand on repairs? Dude, they will never be dead because of maintenance costs.

I know you're posting this from a straight "racer's perspective", but there's still economics to consider for a whole shit load of riders.

Whatever... I'll keep riding my 300xc long past most can't afford their next 4 stroke rebuild...

If I'm just in the sport for Fun, and I am, then a 2 stroke is king...

I'm not trying to be a pro, not racing to win, just riding... and 2 strokes are good for me!

I own a smoker, and I can't agree more.
The dude who posted referring to getting a million signatures on a, 2t class placement thing in AMA racing made me chortle as well.
I think whenever there is a major advancement in life people will have hang-ups. If only the internet was around when we ditched curly phone chords. I can imagine what the big-brother types would have been posting then.... LoL

We've seen a single 2 stk beat an entire field of 4 stks, never got close to that with the 4 stks.

What's dead is the 125 & 250 classes, You're not allowed a competitive 2 stk in the 250 & 450 classes.

4 stks were around for much more of the 8 track era than 2 stks were. Maybe they are closer to cassettes, your 4 stks today are CD's. One day you guys are going to have to buy a more expensive 2 stk to be competitive. You'll see.

I would love to agree that they will have to buy a more expensive two stroke but its not going to happen. Look at the new Yz450f . 4 stokes still have a lot more that can be developed in them

I got nothing against 4-strokes. Hell, I drive one to work every day. Back when I was farming I plowed the field with them. However, when it comes to fun I take my 2-stroke.

meh. I own a 450 and like it fine. My next bike however will be a two stroke bc I love riding them. I don't race anymore and just want to twist a throttle and put a smile on my face.

My God do those things throw roost! But I'm happy to say that they only passed me on the straight sections!

Was a fuckin' blast riding though!

Likely not the immediate future but someday. Biggest obstacle is the rules, last time around you couldn't legislate a 4 stk that was better than a 2 stk, now they can but without that 4 stk dominance is far from assured.

It would take an awful lot but when they figure out how to get the money out of the 2 stk it'll once again be the next big thing.

It's hard for the 2 stk to compete with the revenue from a bike that is thrown away each season in favor of buying new and leaving the time bomb and parts bill to someone buying used to deal with.

I thought the original intention of 4-strokes were to reduce emissions and and noise. I don't think they have done either, and don't see the advantage yet.

I own a 2stroke. I love riding them, but if the typical racer is going to buy a new bike it is not going to be a 2 stroke. People can say they are going to buy a 2 stroke all they want, but when it is time to sign the papers 9 times out of 10 it is gonna be for a 4stroke. That is just the way it is. That is what the manufacturers want.

Doesn't matter. We are now getting into the youth riders that have never known anything but 4 stroke big bikes. These kids who are the present and future of motocross do not want anything to do with a 2 stroke.

Why not? Youth riders currently ride them in 50, 65, 85 and 100 classes.

Hopefully no adult would if they went back to a 125 class and a 250 class and really only allow 125cc bikes in the 125 class. They could go back to an open class if they want to run the 450s and 500s.

I just picked up a barely used 03 yz 125 for $1400. It really is fast and fun compared to my fo-fiddy. But for big tracks and off road the pig is the weapon of choice.

Which is why the 250cc 2t needs to be the premier class and the AMA needs to find a way to pit the 250 2t with the 450 or lowewr the displacement of the 450.....and run a 150+ 2t in the 250f class
