WTF Speed

Emig mentioned it only once during the main, and briefly. They didnt show it in the heat at all, but in the webcast, it was all they talked about. Instead we got to watch Voss and Carpenter put us to sleep in a batlle for slowest qualifier...

Whose the broadcast director, anyway?

The coverage sucked today. I enjoyed the webcast more.

I did listen to the webcast, and it kicked ass. Consistantly, the webcast is better than Speed.

At some point you have to wonder if Emig is pointing and jumping up and down about shit going down. You know he sees it. Emig is one of us. I can't imagine how many times he has slapped himself in the head when he can't say something..

At least in the first heat they showed the racing back to 9th, if not for longer than 2 minutes. For once I felt like it was comparable to Canadian National coverage; but then it sucked again.

k dub was catching reed in the heat race. not the main. it was sweet watching the riders doing that section differently. so many ways to do it. the easiest way for me to describe how it was is, double then a table then double double double.(which is how most of the lites class went through it.) keven was 3-3-3, while reed was landing on the table steping off to either double triple out or triple double out. look at the track map, maybe you can figure it.
it was funny to hear reed say he invisioned doing that but kevin pulled it off first. and actually reed never did do it. kevin didnt do it too many times in the main. the other rythem section was sweet too.

Haha, actually they teach that in broadcast journalism 101. Watch the news and you'll notice it. When one anchor or whatever is talking and another one is in the shot they always stare directly at the person talking.

They showed KW do it in behind Reed on the last lap or so of the heat. No one mentioned it. Erin actually asked Reed about it in the heat win interview and he said that's the way he designed it and then KW went out and did it before him. Then they showed KW do it in the race and Emig went all ape on us and said that was the first time anyone had done it all night. He went on about how KW can shave .5 sec a lap off Reed doing it but I don't think I ever saw KW do it again all night.
