Youd make a great farm mechanic. Thats the kind of ingenuity it takes sometimes to get rusty farm equipment apart without ruining it.

Well done.Smile

And the pivot was saved, not a thread touched on its little dickhead.

Thanks NEWMAN! That means a lot coming from you, now it's time for a Mega Margarita with Kramer and the boys. Can't wait to get this one up to Par with my other Phillies, but actually ride this one.

So what do you do to the other end? Plug it with a short piece of all thread and weld it in? Put it in the lather and turn down the weld till its smooth?

I'm heading over to old moto section to see if there is a build thread there... brb..

It was hallow to begin with, it's just a little bigger threaded hole now, I guess I will just plug it with a rubber cork

Good job. So you broke it loose with the impact socket then cranked it out the rest of the the way with the conduit nipple?

Very Cool....in 85 I bought a used 85 YZ250 from a fellow racer - I thought he took care of his stuff - Ha!

All the pivots points had never been lubedDry The swing arm was the frozen solid. Took the whole bike to pieces and took the frame and swing arm to a marine machine shop in Ballard (Seattle) with a big ass press.......when we got it set up it took all the effort the press could muster to pop it loose - with a big BANG!

Yeah this one popped and banged all the way out, every time I was like OH SHIT! WHAT BROKE? I think it's the first time it's ever been out. Bike is in pretty good shape other than plastic, tons of compression, will tear the motor apart in the next few days

Impact would'nt touch it, it took the 2ft breakover to bust it loose, that and all my 225 pound ass could throw on it

You mean like this old turd Maico I paid $125 for?

And this old Beat up Husky?
I think I get more pleasure restoring them than riding them these days.

Awesome Tydog, can't wait to get mine done. I usually get a restore done in a month or two but the budget might get strung out a little longer on this one. It should be done by Diamond Don's time though

My buddy Paul McDanial found it, no telling where, and then practically dropped it in my lap for $450

Kind of off the main topic. But I attended an event in which Story Musgrave (astronaut and one of the key developers of the Hubble) did a presentation. The guy has several doctorate degrees in different disciplines. When he went into space to fix the Hubble, the door wouldn't close (Designers hadn't accounted for lack of atmosphere/gravity...?) While they were freaking out in Houston, Story told them to get him a come-along and he would line it up with that. His point was that sometimes his real world training from fixing things on the farm was more relevant that all of his (and others') doctorates.
