He looked pretty freaking good....however, 35 points in seven rounds is a tall order unless of course Reed keeps riding like he did at Lakewood.

Good point!

it's a weak fucking field at teh moment and if I.T. is winning, it wouldn't be anything to celebrate about.

Low point, in my mind, with the outdoor Nats.

Isn't Hot Sauce training with a GOAT ?

that could explain a lot !
6/30/2009 12:12pm
he's been training with the goat's mom for like 5 years now. im just glad the guys healthy and able to win again. i think people were spoiled by the carmichael era and don't know what actual racing looks like anymore. could you go out there and beat the rest of the field? no! give these guys the respect they deserve, from 1st place to 40th place, they are all still very fast guys.

Not taking anything away from the guys running right now, but the 450 class is pretty weak. Granted, they have stayed healthy and are actually out there racing, so bravo to them. But no one can jump up and down saying this is the best season... by any stretch.

What we needed was a dark horse privateer to come up. Gavin or Cody, those guys ran so good for about a year each. If one of them had peaked this year, a privateer champ could have been a pipe dream. As it is now, the 250 class has all the talent.

did you enjoy the battle between Hahn and Short?

That was good racing.

Lot of disrespecting the guys that are out there making it happen. Everyone wants RC and Bubba to battle every weekend. Get over it. They aren't out there.

Would IT or Reed or MA be on top if James was there? Not likely...but, it is what it is. And those guys are still faster as hell.

I get where you are coming from... totally. Without a given runaway each weekend, the racing has more potential to get better...

But Hahn and Short would have battled had the other guys been there, of course it would have been for like 7th and 8th..

I'm not arguing that the guys aren't fast... or that they are worthy of a championship...

All I am saying is that it isn't the same level. That's not being disrespectful. Those guys aren't dumb. They know whats up.

I don't disagree that these guys might not be racing where they are if some other folks were still out there.

But, they might be better than they are being given credit for. What's the saying? Racing is 90% mental? These guys start performing and getting some results, the next thing you know they believe they belong and they are challenging the RVs and MAs next year...maybe. I hope so.

And as far as Hahn and Short go, the battling in the pack for 7th/8th rarely seems as intense as it does for a podium. Maybe it's just perception, but I don't see many guys race within a few bike lengths of each other swapping positions back that far in the pack.

it's great to see a guy that has been around the sport for so long winning. He has put in years of hard work and recovered from multiple injuries to get there. Why can't people just be happy for him instead of asking "What if James had showed up? What if Kdub were to ride?" James and Kdub aren't riding and IT earned his victory.

In more ways than one in my opinion!

Man, it's great to see someone other than myself defending Hot Sauce. GuyB and TXMXer, great freakin posts welcome to the Hot Sauce militia!! Haha

I don't give a damn if 5 good riders didn't race Colorado Out of the other 38 riders there, he was the best on that day, and those other 38 riders are the best in the United States that were racing that day. So, you whinners who say it's a weak field are ignorant ass's.

ya know...Booby is a special case. He's like the kid you knew when you were growing up that had all the cool toys. He might have been a jackhole, but you'd put up with him because of the cool stuff.

Booby has a great video vault he shares with us on occasion.

Respect from 1st to 40th is right...

Back in the day, when I was dumb (okay, I'm still dumb, but dumber than I am now), I had it in my mind that the fast pro's at our local tracks were faster than the lappers qualifying for nationals and making the mains in supercross...(Like I said, I was completely ignorant at how fast those dudes making the night shows go)

Then I went to my first supercross...and I was pumped because one of the fastest local pros was going to race it...

Practice comes around, and I see all the 125 riders blasting around the track...and then I see the local guy...he tried the whoops twice and then started riding around them...rolled almost every jump that was right out of a corner, and could only occasionally triple both triples...needless to say, he didn't make the night show. And I thought he was one bad dude, because he was sweeping the 125, 250 and open pro classes every race here.

That experience REALLY opened my eyes. Anyone out there trying to qualify can haul the mail on a dirt bike and certainly deserve our respect...the dudes that qualify are freaky fast, lappers or not, and certainly deserve our respect...and the guys winning, well, it's just plain unbelievable how fast they can go.

No need to bash any rider...let alone a guy that just went 1-1 at an AMA national...
