Here are a couple from Friday night at 6:00. Everything I hear from the MX Sports crew is that it's 100 percent on for tomorrow.

Rain shouldn't be there until late Sat or early Sunday, should it?

The track looked great. Looking forward to at least the morning and maybe one moto before having to split. Dang!

Ger, they're predicting thunderstorms by moto time, but the serious rain not until evening, and then they're talking 4-10 inches through Sunday.

This thing has big potential to cause major storm surges and flooding. Both New York airports and Logan in Boston are right at the waters edge. New York City's transportation system is shutting down at noon saturday to have vehicles and operators in case evacuations are necessary. You can be guaranteed this will cause a nightmare for transportation, and connecting flights from other east coast airports will be cancelled to begin with and if the airport closes, all flights out will be cancelled too. If you flew in already, your stuck. You get to have fun a day or 2 in Bean Town or the Big Apple. Hope you brought an extra credit card. Getting home is going to be an experience. I have lived up in that area most of my life, and as much as they plan, they never handle these situations well. The race should be ok, it's just the transportation issues that could suck big time.

This isn't a rain cloud dude. This is a traveling disaster. It's already displaced thousand of people, and the cost's already are in the millions. Atlantic City is already shut down. And it's not really even hit yet. Not something to joke about.

I'm from Cali and I used to not give a shit about what happened on the East coast, but now that I live here, it's no joke, tornadoes and Hurricanes are waaaay worse than a freakin earth quake!

This storm is the size of Arizona. Let me put it to you this way, you cannot stand up by yourself in much more than 30mph winds. This storm is going to be around 100mph and people are going to lose their homes and body bags have been sent to the coast in preparation

I know you didn't mean it that way, but think before you say something like that.

Didn't Hurricane Katrina have like 180 MPH winds though? We had 70 MPH winds last winter and it barely blew any trees over it seemed. Plus once the hurricane hits land it seems to subside... What the hell do I know tho.

I'm with you. These weather forcasters are usually wrong. I sincerely hope they are wrong and the storm peters out, but I'm going to Southwick tomorrow. I'm bringing my raincoat and I'm gonna have a great time, dammit!!

PS- I may be slightly hung over.......

Katrina was a Cat 5 at sea
She lost steam and was a Cat 3 when she hit land

This is a Cat 2 and will be a Cat 1 by the time it gets to NE Area

Now while it wouldn't bother me too much, I have been though a bunch of them now, for someone who's never been through one or not prepared, it can be scary.

It can be a super rainy, super windy, nasty ass storm that lasts 24 hours+....like the longest nasty storm you can imagine.
That's what messes stuff up, not one or two gusts of high wind, but the constant never ending sideways rain winds, it takes it's toll on power lines and trees, as they just wear out and give up.

What kills people is storm surge, flooding and stupidity.

I'm leaving 7:30 am tomorrow heading to Virginia to work this storm ( i'm an adjuster, mainly catastrophe stuff ). Irene may not be as appealing as a cat 4 Katrina but it is very large and will dump lots of rain for long periods. Soil saturation will be a big problem, causing lots of trees to fall on power lines etc. and lots of flooding. Could be a problem for airports.

Wish I was headed to the race though.

Getting the riders, fans, and teams out of there may be the bigger issue.
