Sexton just went down hard in the whoops. Hearing from the track crew that it may be a broken left leg or foot.

Guessing leg considering they red flagged it and backboarded him.

Poor kid can't seem to catch a break lately

We came back to the hotel so my fiance could rest a little before the night show, so I didn't see him go down..... but can't help but wonder if those wrists of his contributed to him losing control and going down. Really hope Sexton isn't the next Zach Bell. Heal up kid - see you in the great outdoors..

Dang, wanted to see him do well. Always good to see someone from the midwest do well, thinking he may be trying too hard with all his injuries

So a kid that usually never gets hurt has now had 2 major injuries trying to race SX. I am so ready for an outdoor only schedule.

Bummer! I made a thread about him a few days ago wondering if it might not be a good idea for him to lineup after not being ready last week and honestly the little we saw him before he crashed he seemed pretty good and I don't think his previous injuries are why he crashed or anything, those whoops are gnarly. I hope it's not as bad as the boot being off indicated and he'll get back out there. I heard he was flying on the SX track before he hurt his wrists.

He'll come back at Hangtown and be a top ten guy.

If he broke his femur that is incredibly unlikely

Didn't Colt Nichols break his in December?

Femurs aren't that long to heal. He will likely have some stamina issues for the first couple rounds but I think he's likely to be out there, assuming it's a straight forward injury/recovery. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Top 5 at by Thunder Valley.

I think Colt's was just cracked, so a little easier of a break

Damn,,starting to look like Zach Bell all over again..some just can't adapt to SX and it sucks that some really good guys get washed out because of it.

Fracture, crack, and break are the same thing. Was it a compound?

Femurs aren't as bad as something like an ACL/MCL injury, plenty of riders have broken a femur and still came back to kick ass....Guy Cooper for an example (only because I was standing right where it happened and i heard it snap)

That was Craig.

I saw the crash and he looped out at the end of the whoops. When he went off the back of the bike, his foot caught on the ground and you could see his leg go floppy. As soon as I saw it I knew he broke his leg. When I saw him grabbing for his leg, I really knew something was wrong.

Injuries in this sport really suck. Terrible news, get well soon. Question, WHY did Chase Sexton get to ride the A Group practice for his debut? It seems like once again the AMA is making the rules up as they go along. The AMA made Josh Hansen ride "B Group" practice a few weeks back.

No, they are not the same. Well kind of

A fracture is a blanket statement for any type of break. But there are several different styles of fractures. Compound just means the bone is through the skin.

I heard them say Nichols broke his in December, it must have been a minor crack and not a full fracture. The surgery required to fix a fully broken femur is what cause the recovery time, lots of damage to muscle fibers.

Greg Albertyn broke his femur at Atlanta in 2000 and still made it by outdoors. But Ricky had moved up and the rest is history.

Seriously though, the RC Road to SX is a joke. The rookies should have to run the outdoors only first year. Everyone knows they can ride a SX track at a top 5 pace, but the Outdoors is the best place to get your feet wet in the Pro's. And if they get hurt towards the end, they can still make next years SX season.

Good question, especially since Cole Thompson, a factory KTM rider in Canada, raced his first SX of the year this week and was in 250 Group C
