Why Doesnt supercross post the winnings (money ) next to the finsh like Nascar? Guess its too pathetic to post in public.Does anyone know the amount each rider gets?
The Shop
Amazing that finishing last in the SX LCQ (not the main- the LCQ) pays almost as much as finishing 3rd in the Lites main event. Does not seem to make sense, finish on the podium in the lites or dead last in the SX LCQ and walk away with nearly the same cash (just talking purse money- not bonuses).
The Lites pay-outs are pathetic, yes they are a "support" class but they are still professional racers putting on one hell of a show.
The SX class pay-outs were actually better than I thought. Yes they should still be more- I guess I was just expecting the bar to be set pretty low considering the AMA/ Feld history with purse money.
Maybe you could do the national breakdown and show everyone how "sick" that is compared to SX.
These young guns would never believe that!!!
I know they used to have to pay hundreds of dollars just to sign up, if that is still true today (which it probably is) the purse money pay-outs are even more pathetic (especially for the Lites riders).
Do professional athletes in any other sport have to pay just to sign-up for the event?
The winner of the lites main should make significantly more than 10th place in the supercross class. Hell, the top 3 usually have good enough times to be top 10 in supercross on their 250f's.
true story.
Pit Row
It's not purse + contingency
It's the total combined value of the purse AND all the available contingency.
So if you participate in all of the available contingency programs, use all their products, you earn that purse.
It's also my understanding, and something that differentiates the NASCAR model from the Supercross model, is that each race is individually promoted by their respective track owner, who is also responsible for the purse or a portion of the purse (not counting contingency), while in SX, it's the same promoter at each race.
I believe the promoter's purse is based on the size on the number of seats.
SX purse is static, no matter how many spectators.
NASCAR has a HUGE television package, and individual event title and presented by sponsors to add to the total.
SX has the same sponsors from the first race to the last, as well as exclusivity to lock out other competing sponsors.
When it comes to purses between auto racing and SX racing, it's apples and oranges
Can you do some more math, please?
Please add up, with your best estimate, the cost to operate a SX event.
Now keep in mind, you have in those costs; Stadium rental (7 days), security, the 8 18-wheel trucks hauling all the rigging and track stuff, heavy equipment rental, the cost for Dirt Wurx, fencing rental, port a can rentals, police fees, local advertising, travel for all the staffing (which includes but not limited to: airfare, hotel, food, rental car, per diem), salaries of the staff (guess annual and divide), truck driver salaries, TV production cost, TV airtime cost (they pay to put it on TV), and any other incidentals I may have missed.
Can you use your massive mathematical prowess and add that up?
Thanks
I can't wait, I am so curious what it will be....
