Tonkawa is the town just East of I 35 on the highway going into Ponca. About 10 or so miles away. Got a lot of rain in that area but looks to dry out quick and weather should be awesome moving forward. Plus, people are so used to bad weather in Oklahoma, flash flooding means they get to break out the two man bass boat in the neighborhood.

Looks like one of the Ponca traditions is still active!

Yep. In July or in October, schedule a race and batten down the hatches. Long night for the hundreds in motor homes parked outside the track for today's entry, with many making an exodus to nearby WalMart and Lowe's parking lots.
Have pictures of the new lakes on site, but too depressing to post.
On the flip, the sun is out and Harold Martin has a big crew on hand -- Tracy Freeman and Chris Frye of MX343, Luke Stinson from Midwest Extreme Park, Tommy Eaton from Compound 77, others -- and if anyone can pull it together, Moto Playground can.

Fingers crossed, tall boots on.

I got an email that they postponed opening until 3 today. Once this clears out tonight looks like it will be good. We decided instead of going out tonight and camping in storms to just leave early in the morning.

Let us know how it goes, if you can.

Water all pumped off and draining and pits are starting to fill up. There's a line right out into the street and up and around the block and on and on, just like it was 1989 or something.
Fantastic job by Moto Playground and track crew in getting the place back together so well and so fast.
Looking forward to an epic next three days.

Man, that really is good news to hear. Perhaps this is the beginning of a new tradition?

Pretty sure there wont be over flow parking like in the past. Plus you no longer have to walk your bike everywhere!

At 3:20 local time that's how it looks.

Vendors, name brand semi trucks, race support, full gates lining up for practice on a well prepped track that was literally underwater about 28 hours ago.

Couldn't possibly overstate what Moto Playground has brought to the table in recently starved Ponca City tradition.

Do they still make you push your bike a mile uphill to the starting line?

It was! Marley got into lead at end of 1st lap and was gone. His corner speed is still crazy. 2nd-5th was good race. Track was best I've ever seen it, especially after the flood. Lot of new dirt, disked deep, deep ruts and rough. Disappointed I didn't get to race. I heard MotoPlayground has 3yr contract for this race and Ponca may ask them to run the Oklahoma State series race. Not sure if that's true or not but hope so, cause the track was much better today than it has been the last few years at state race.
