Sure, it was called "SCRAMBLES" and they had bikes of four strokes and two,

and people diced for position while folks hung along the fences and riders

battled hard and Vic Eastwood wheelied his way off the back of the bike

(5:30 mark) and people loved it.

Has it really changed that much ? Not really.

Man and machine versus dirt and other men with their machines.

1960 MX Salaries & contracts ? One has to wonder.

Way back when YAMAHA racers used to work in the parts department.

WOW. If you do nothing else, watch the last minute of this video -

INCREDIBLE racing.

Ironically, it's 250cc two-smoker vs. 440 four stroke....

WOW - what a gem.

Vic Eastwood - Marks Dad, Dave Nichol - Kurt's Dad, Arthur Lampkin, Dad or Uncle to 10 time world trials champ Dougie. Bryan Goss was the Maico importer for years.
Think that was when Smith was on some crazy Ti framed works beast.

Yeah, tres cool -I recognized all the familiar names, even thought I heard JOHN DOWD's

name in there....(?)

I know he's not THAT old, maybe there was a Brit John Dowd.

Seriously man, those last few corners are GOLDEN.

It's ironic how the star of that great vintage video turned out to be the worst thing that could have ever happened to the AHRMA organization . Single handedly drove the organization into Chapter 11. Thanks Jeff.

Anyone ever see the movie with Arlo Guthrie that was based on his hit song "Alice's Restaurant"? It had some good MX action in it from the late 60's.

He pissed away all of AHRMA's money in a pissing match lawsuit against a wealthy attorney. No win situation but Smith spent until there was nothing left to spend....except for the injured riders benevolent fund which I had contributed to for about 14 years. So, he raided that fund too and spent it all. Drug the AMA into it too to the tune of $750,000.00 until they obviously told AHRMA to go fuck themselves. Mid-Ohio this year was without the AHRMA banner wasn't it. After AHRMA declared bankruptcy, which was what Rob Ianucci vowed to do to them, AHRMA did the only right thing they knew how. They put Jeff Smith in the treasurers chair. Brilliant!!
