Great to hear. I rode there two years ago, it was just ok. Memory could be fading but I remember a crazy dangerous start - bends to the right around a tree, with a drop off on the left after the turn? Locals, correct me if I'm wrong but it seemed really sketchy.
Cool to have the nuclear power plant dome right over the track - gives the place a mad max feel. Hopefully Peters does it right, the trifecta of Sunset, Mt. Carroll and Byron would be a great 3 day weekend.
And well done on having a separate quad track, the only way to go.
I raced the Racerx vet race there last season and the start went into a left hander but they said they were running the track in the reverse direction. I can't wait to see the changes.
I grew up racing Byron and the place is awesome! We used to do Friday night Lake Geneva, Saturday night Mendota and sunday Nuke series at Byron, so Fun!! Aaron vincer and his late father have been keeping that place alive and 1 of the best midwest tracks EVER!! My dad raced there back in his day and I am sure my son will race there one day also!!

I started racing there in 1990 and it was always a left hand turn leading into right from the start. If you had as full gate it was easy to get caught in a mess. Sketchiest was the downhill right hander before the finish line. Few fatality's on the tree at the bottom of the hill.
Looking at the awesome tracks on Marc's website, then comparing them to my memory of Byron, I think they're in for some major changes. The Foster County and Costa Rica tracks he did look awesome. Someday......
Bring back the 24"-deep sawdust, like Daddy Joe had and I will be happy.
F yes!!!! That is when that place was Awesome. The layout has pretty much been the same for the last 20 years. Give or take a turn or jump here and there. Sawdust made Kahoka Missouri Gods Country......
I don't think joe is "late" i think he just is in florida?
Yea all the trees are cleared out and I suspect they are working on the track now. Be interesting to see what marc brings to the midwest. That property has great elevation changes, and well it's a very nice facility. I personally have raced at byron since 1975........ Actually would have been considered a "byronite" one time or another.
We will be there to check it out sometime this year, not the first race LOL let it work in, but we will do some byron racing this year.
It actually looks pretty wierd with all those trees gone. I think they are damn near scrappping the whole track and building a new one. after 40 some years of mx at byron, thats simply amazing.
WOW are they making some major changes. Looks like he's getting a little $ from the logs, and pouring it right back into the track. I'm guessing the new track will be a LOT longer and wider.

What is ever more cool. it's 40 minutes away.
I think you are right, I stand corrected. This must be Gerhard I presume. I have not seen you in 10+ years since I moved to Cali. I used to ride with the kopecky family at megacross every race. How ya been?
Man those phots of Byron look awesome, going to have to hit a race this year for sure.

real "dirt" track with great elevation changes. We have raced a HS there every year and it's one our favorites.
