This past weekend we ran an Area Qualifier in all the C classes. We did pretty well qualifying in 2 of the 3 (crashed on second moto of one class). I like to look and see who beat us and see how they've faired in other races this year, kind of gives me an idea of where we may be nationally. Well in doing so I see that someone who beat us is classified as a B rider. Now we talked to the kid a little and I talked to the dad and both were super nice. The thing is I think it was just a matter of them not knowing any better, I think it was an honest mistake. They entered a race earlier in the year in B and I don't think they knew that would automatically bump you to B.

Now I don't care about the results but I'm wondering if I should let them know what's going on so it won't be an issue at the regional. Is this something maybe they could fix or did they screw themselves? I hate for them to get to the regional and find out they can't race or will they catch it when they register for the regional?

Once again I want to say I don't care about the results and they seemed to be very nice people and I'm not being a jerk I'm just wondering if I should try to help or just leave it be and let what happens happen.

I think you should for sure let them know the situation.

Better for you to let them know now rather than they get to the regional and get booted, and if the AMA website shows him as a B rider they will get booted. At least now he still has time to run qualifiers as a B rider.

Definitely tell them, if they get pissy then o well, you did your good deed, cause like you said, they still have the opportunity to run B classes in the 3 or 4 qualifiers that are left.

Good ride by the little one, maybe mine will get/stay healed up so we can make Byron

Who gives a shit. Nobody cares if you win a C class title. Do it for fun.

Don't take my comments too seriously.

Regarding your actual question, I guess just ask them why their racing C class if they have been doing B.

did you scroll down and look at where he rode B? it was at the Wildcat LLQ on Saturday then rode C on Sunday at Wildcat. I would assume someone at Wildcat sent the results in wrong or more than likely someone at AMA entered it wrong in the system. should be easy enough to get lined out.

I was going to call you and ask your opinion too. Thanks for the input. Hoping to make Byron too, still need 250 Limited in NC Region.

It appeared to be at a local race. Only 5 in the class. Hopefully someone did report wrong and it will all be good.

I think it was an honest mistake. I don't think they knew the rules.

I also know of someone who raced c class at wildcat and B class last year locally. Maybe we are thinking of the same rider?

Nothing to do with LL but I noticed at least one guy that runs A class at a local harescramble series ran C class at the GNCC this past weekend. I don't think it was a mistake though.

did you look on AMA results/advancement page? the kid that won is listed as B on the AMA page but like I said it shows he raced B on Sat at Wildcat. all the other races it shows for 2014 and 2013 he was in C. maybe we are looking at a different rider or different source. anyway I'd either call them and give them a heads up or let DC/MX sports know and they will get it lined out.

welcome to the C class, most top 10 C riders, should be B, it will only get worse at regionals and at the ranch

You should see the number of A riders trying to qualify in the B class- surely they know the rules by now!

I'm not sure about the rules now but I know a few years ago the rule was you could bump up a class for one race to see if you're comfortable with the faster pace and if not you're allowed to drop back down to your original class but if you ride more than one race then you can't drop back down.

I would let them know if ... you know how to contact them or see them again.

If they only ran one B class race, they may be able to appeal being bumped up, even if it was self advancement. Here is the SE, I noticed a few weeks ago Austin Stewart raced C class and was listed as a B rider because last year in Sept. he ran one B class race and self advanced. However, this week, the AMA has him listed as a C rider again... I am guessing he protested the bump.

By the way, we were at Thunder Valley, who was your kid? I was taking photos and may have some of him I will give you.

You can let them know now, or someone else will do it after the regional...
After they've spent a load of money, and then the disappointment will be greater.

I think I'll put the boy on it and see if we can get a hold of them through social media. I hate to have him get sent home.

You wont need to say anything, I guarantee there are already a bunch of people ready to contact DC and or protest any and all riders that might have raced a race in a different class than what they are running for LLs, heck you better check all your results to make sure you don't have anything questionable. The off track racing for LLs is already in full swing, its the race that starts in March even though its runs in August.Laughing
