I saw that KTM announced their 2008 contingency programs so I though I'd check it out. Am I looking at something wrong on the site or is it true that they only pay $300.00 for an overall win at the amateur nationals?
I mean, it says they pay $300.00 for the A class at Loretta's, is this right or am I off my rocker?

300 for the win. Plus if someone is on a KTM and winning Lorrettas then they are more than likely already getting paid by KTM anyways.
Yamaha is listed at $1500, so if they are really making 4-5K then the KTM guys probably are too........

KTM does outbid the other Factories for their riders so Im sure it evens out.
My point is; every other factory offers $1,500-$2,000 where they offer $300.00 To me, it seems very low and very odd.

Very true. I would look at it too and probably go with another company but I know 99.9% of the local guys around here dont even know what contingency is.

They don't want their money going to sissy ass MX/SX rider's... KTM is putting their money where it belong's, With us wood's rider's!!! Hare scramble's are gonna start to pay off. Ya heard it here first...
Most NorCal shops are down 50-70% since the holiday season to now from last year same period....
Some families use that money to subsidize the cost of racing and realize every dollar counts. I mean, on a paying weekend a good local kid can walk away with $600.00 + from both classes. Not bad, IMO....
I don't know, it just seems like they would be stepping it up a little more for the grassroots riders to try and grain a larger market share. KTM is making some good stuff and they're making a big push right now, so I thought they'd be offering the most of all the companies that's why when I looked I was shocked.

This is true, especially for Honda. But KTMs bike sales just keep going up. They are in a niche and people really like the quality even w/ the quirks. Plus the quirks are pretty small these days.
