HRP

I like this for the fact that it combines the air bladder like the RXR with the hard shell of a conventional chest protector. And room for my leatt. Looks nice too.Anyone try one of these yet? I'm leaning on ordering one.

Todd, you could have just taken mine when you dropped me and my bike off tonight.

It's the same chest protector they've been making, for the most part. They may have made the neck hole bigger, and made small changes to make the Leatt fit better. There is no bladder though. They worded it well enough to sucker people like you in. <img class= " title="Laughing">

I got one to work with Leatt. It woks fine other than being kind of fragile. pretty easy to wear too.

I got like 5 cracks on my first day of riding with it, from small rocks. I didn't feel them hitting me too much, so guess it's doing the job.

Unless you are really thin, I don’t recommend getting it with a build-in waist belt thing. The thing is kind of bulky. I ain't a small Japanese guy, and the belt makes me look even fatter...

Does it actually have a bladder type thing in it?

Sounds like they are using some type of open cell foam(?) and saying that the air squeezes out at impact....Very easily could be confused with the RXR idea....

That has been a standard description of HRP's foam padding for years. Everybody ignored it until RXR played up air pads.

It refers to the semirigid foam that makes up the padding at the edges of the plastic. It's rolled over and sewn, leaving a hollow place inside (containing air).

Yes Breck, totally; but some explanations and information always help sometimes.

SteveS, you can't compare the foam pads use on some chest-protectors like the HRP, and the ASA system used by RXR. The ASA isn't a pad but a reinforced PVC bladder, built with a system of partitions and channels, that contains air. There's a difference of 6,572 Newtons on impact, during CE testing, between the 2.

1 newton = 0.224808943 pounds force

Not making any comparison at all. HRP has always used that description of their foam pads (which are really for comfort from the edges of the hard plastic). I was pointing out that the use of that description for this particular HRP product meant that it's no different from what they've offered before.

Yes, you are absolutely right. It's always been used in these products but less descriptions used to be given, people were probably paying less attention to details like these in the past.
