Good for Dungey

I'm not a Dungey fan at all, but I have to say he has really, really impressed me the last few weeks. He handled losing this championship with a lot of maturity and grace, good for him.

He just as easily could have handled it a lot differently and been a complete ass (and nobody would have blamed him probably), but instead he took it for what it's worth and made the best. According to Observations he came over and hung with RVs whole crew after the race, that takes balls and class.

I think he's a level headed enough guy to realize he's got a long future still and is probably excited about getting back with Decoster next year and start moving forward in his career.

Pretty impressive Dungey but I still hope RV keeps whooping ya for years to come!!

He's a lot more forgiving than me. I would have cleaned him out in one of the last rounds, not forgetting about St Louis 2010. After that, I would say we're even and let's race clean from here on out.

That's exactly what Dungey did isn't it? He said forget about it and raced clean all of 2011, even though his last time racing with Villopoto he got cleaned out by him.

RD is a class act for sure! It very easily could have been him that won the title this year instead of RV. There were days when RD was faster , and there were days when RV was faster.

There are so many variables that can happen in this sport such as mechanicals , injuries , bad starts , not getting along with the bike or track , and even collisions with other racers.......NOTHING is set in stone!

BUT.....that is why we race right? Everyone who lines up on that gate has a chance at winning a race or becoming a champion. This year it just so happens it was RV's year. Next year could be RD's.....or possibly someone else.

They both raced clean all year. I would think RV probably could look back at St. Louis and realize that wasn't the best move... everyone makes mistakes.

You said that if you were Dungey you would have cleaned him out... I'm saying that would probably be a big mistake, not to mention that all these guys, RD, RV, CR, TC, etc are top of the class and know better, imo. Not sure about Barcia yet! Grinning

I believe Dungey did the same thing when he lost the Lites SX title to J Law. I remember reading that RD went to J Law's championship party at his house even though he wasn't invited and congratulated him in person. The article said J Law was pretty surprised!

I'm saying if I were Dungey, I would have done something similar to what Villopoto did to me. Then we would be even, and can race clean from here on. They now are all class acts, and I doubt they'd do that to each other anytime soon. You're right Barcia is another story. Lol.

RD is a smart businessman. class act = more dollars for longer periods of time. He's got a big future in this sport and he's not burning bridges or tarnishing his brand. that is a smart man IMO.

^^^^.....This. Most companies out there dig the clean cut , clean riding style type riders......and Dungey fit that bill perfectly.
