Just put this bad boy on my 13 KX450. It came with a quiet spark arrestor insert.... Should I put it in or leave it out? I'm so confused...... lol

That's what I was hoping to hear.... thanks. You never know with this 4 stroke shit, like if it needs that back pressure or not. I didn't buy it for power gains.... simply cosmetics. Haha. Bad ass looking system.

It's for riding on public lands that require spark arrestors. Some people like the quieter sound as well. I know several track guys (yes they are older) that run them because they like the way it sounds with the insert. The kids toss it in the trash bro.

I would run the insert, especially in the KX.

Don't get caught riding public trails without it. If you need to keep your neighbors happy, they'd appreciate it staying in place. It's also a way to modify the power delivery to be a little less abrupt.

There's a number of good reasons to leave it in. There's a few good reasons to leave it out. Both have their merits and can help you tune your bike to your liking. Try it both ways and see what you like. We're not all crazy fast redheaded freaks of nature. Even the best guys detune their bikes for SX to be easier to ride on a slicker surface. It's all about what works best for you.

It isn't always true that more sound equals more power. I know according to yoshimura that the exhaust actually makes more horsepower with a spark arrestor in. I am citing Yoshimura's actual dyno results. I would contact FMF directly, I am sure that they would be happy to help you

I rode Kawasaki's last year and when I talked to Jenn at FMF about the Spark Arrestor core, she told me that they built the exhaust to run better with it in. I raced the WORCS series in Pro 2 and had to get sound tested before every race so I needed the silencer core in anyway. Paul Ondas was FMF's vendor for the WORCS series and he cut the spark arrestor screen off the core and put the core back in my bike.. I would recommend buying another core so that you can have one with the spark arrestor screen when needed and one with the screen cut off for the rest of the time.
