Pros: Don’t have to kick start your bike.
Cons: Dead batteries. Blown fuses. Replacing batteries. Charging batteries. Slower that kicking on a dead engine start. Not supposed to bump start. Etc.

I'd also add it's easier to start in a panic, like if you are racing and fall over /stall etc. Also easier to start if you fall in mud or on a hill or something.

It's pretty cool if you stall to just pull the clutch in, hit the magic button and take off, often without even putting a foot down. Late in the moto if you tip over, you're able to get up hit the button and go. 1 battery for me and it's not like you don't get any warning, I have a charger, don't use it. No blown fuses since 2017. With a right knee replacement, it might be a little sketchy starting a bike in less than ideal circumstances, slope, mud etc. especially if I have to kick more than 3-4 times.

Doesn't your car have an electric starter?

Less reliable? Have you heard a lot of complaining about the electric stuff not working? I’m not sure I have even seen one thread about it.

And yet the only kickstart 250F/450 is the heaviest of the bunch. So really a non-issue there. And driving up the cost of the sport is quite dramatic, wouldn't you say? It's a pretty simple concept and it's been on cars and street motorcycles forever. Sure sometimes there are failures, but in all reality it's something that doesn't even cross your mind 99% of the time. I have had my 350 since '18 and trickle charge the battery in winter and it's never given me a problem. Stock battery. I bought the R6 new when they redesigned in 06 and put 2 batteries in it, since I've owned it. So not sure what is driving up the cost of the sport(s)?

You are correct, we don’t care. New model four strokes are all so nice, the weight is a non factor. Now when I switched from 2 strokes back in the early 2000s, the weight was an issue and I did miss my 125 and 250 two smokers even more when you’d stall or dump it over and try and kickstart them! But now the times they have a changed and I like not jetting my bikes, not pre-mixing gas, and not kicking my bike to start. More power to the purists and I still love hearing a 2 stroke rip!

Yes, they all do. So does my dirt bike.
