Funny how Dungey has been riding outdoors all year focused on winning a championship and immediately after heading to France for the MXON, yet has already signed a new deal and is out testing. Stewart hasn't raced MX since May and still doesn't know what he is doing for next year. In fact what has he been doing since May? Oh that's right, he raced that truck race.

Since Stewart only does SX, how did he not get something together for the Monster Cup? This race was announced a while ago. He could have been testing/practicing for this race longer than anyone.

Stewart only races the races that are in his contract period. Do you think he would race the cup just for the love of racing? Not a chance! Even if he signed his contract today he wouldnt race because he's 'not ready"

Issues with his Yamaha contract.....he was still supposed to be under contract with them for 2012.
Not sure what legally is going on with all that....it's been kept under wraps.
Sometimes things are out of his control....prior obligations etc..with personal sponsors & contracts etc...
Stuff gets put on hold til this time of year, team budgets, teams prior sponsor obligations etc...
If he is in negotiations with anyone....or multiple teams on different colors, showing up at the MEC on one of the colors may hurt his negotiations. His personal sponsors also have to mesh well with the team.

Dungey to KTM 2012 was called when they announced Rodger leaving Suzuki back in the fall of 2010.
So I'm sure they had the full year to work things out....under the table. Wink
Everyone knew it was coming last year,it was no secret.

James is now old(er), financially secure, done there been that.

Seems for him, he has lost the drive.

Wasn't there an "official" PR about Stewart to race the MEC months ago?

I don't know, but they still have him listed on the confirmed riders list on the homepage of the monster cup website...along with Reedy.

Which is BS, IMO.

Make you a deal....

You tell me the name of his agent, the details of his contract, the limitations of that contact which may or may not include non-negotiation clauses until a certain time period, the details of his exit from L&M/San Manuel, his issues with Yamaha, both contractually and mechanically and whatever on-going negotiations that maybe underway, I won't call you a douchebag for making this stupid ignorant thread.

Yeah, that's true.

I still believe Dungey is hungrier and more committed at this stage in their careers.

I do like James. I hope he gets on a new bike and does well. He is a lot of fun to watch on a bike. I am hoping he goes to the new factory Suzuki team. That or KTM, I know probably not but Red Bull is already in place and I think that would be a good situation for him. Now that Malcolm is on JDR KTM, maybe it is a two for one Stewart deal.

Do you really need to know any of that stuff to form an opinion?

James signed a contract and now appears he doesn't want to honer the contract HE SIGNED. All the other shit doesn't matter, if he signed a contract, he should see it to the end.

Outsider,

I clearly remember that PR from the Stewart camp because they were like....wait till you see us at the Monster race...suggesting something in their program would be different.

I was expecting a new sponsor...

With so many people doubting him, I would imagine he is hungrier than ever.

Stewart has been riding the Zooks for a while now, not riding the couch. He will be ready.

Ok fatrider, I don't know why I would ever question JS's commitment. Maybe it's because he only wanted to do SX so that he could do his tv show. Maybe it was because he pulled a Poucel at Unadilla last year and quit after he had just announced racing the last 4 Nationals. Maybe it's because he would rather race trucks during what should be the prime of his career. Maybe because it was rumored that he was doing the first 4 Nationals this year and didn't race one. Oh yeah, and let's not forget that stupid flug tug jump or whatever you call it he did too.

I hope he races the full season next year and does well. But don't say I have no reason to question his drive or commitment

I dont know what lies ahead for Stewart or for Dungey.
But I think if James went back to doing a full season MX & SX 110% focused on racing (no time for TV shows),you might see him back to his old dominating ways. I wouldn't rule that out. Smile
James doing SX only and then that show had to distract his career a little bit, I would assume anyway (I think it would distract anyone's). And it is not that he got slow...he was still very fast. But guys like RV & RD caught him.James should have also been progressing over the last 2 season as both the Ryan's progressed, but some how they all ended up close to each other. And Reed is in that mix also. That's my opinion anyway.

I think Dungey is where he wants to be,working back with someone he has put a lot of career trust in, and that is Rodger.
One would think Ryan & Rodger both want to be on top every week and they will keep progressing.

That's right, didn't James put something out on his twitter about Santa bringing him an early x-mas present for the Monster Cup race.

I agree completely wawa, If there are mechanical issues with the bikes, use all your resources and WORK HARD to get it better, If there are management issues with the team, restructure an WORK HARD to get everyone on the same page and moving towards the common goal of winning races. I think Stewart should set his Ego aside, relinquish some control, and do what he does best...ride the friggin motorcycle. He, signed, he should have to deal with it and finish it out and not try and pull the rug out from underneath everything.

The only thing he doesn't seem to have issues with is cashing those checks for sitting around for most the year.

I think San Manuel may have pulled sponsorship from that team....a long with the Brooks issue also.
It all fell a part and James was left holding a Yamaha contract in his hands (that's the way I understand it).
Does he go to JGR Yamaha to make right? Or talk with Yamaha and look at different options?
Does Yamaha want away from him also..?
A lot questions....to be answered.
His L&M contract was up....but not his personal contract with Yamaha.
I dont know what went on with him & Mike,it could have been a mutual thing and legal stuff could be pending between Larry & Mike,or Larry & James,Or Mike & James.

It's a real mess and I dont pretend to understand it all.
But business career wise,James might be better-off on a different color.
He will do what he thinks is best for his business/himself,and I dont blame him.

Can you show me where you said the same or similar about Chad Reed and Jeremy McGrath when they rode SX only for the same team?

Thanks

I'm really looking forward to reading it

James is what, 25 or 26 and has dealt with two major injuries in the last three or four years? You call that the prime of his career? He comes back from total knee reconstruction to go 24-0 and fools have the balls to question his commitment. Dude has given his entire life to MX and helped take the sport to another level. Now we're on here bitching because he may not do some one off event in the off season. Good lord.

I'm guessing he's a bit more concerned about getting his SX program together and chasing a title in 2012 then he is about some random race in October.

By the way, you don't think he's riding? What is he sitting at home with his feet up surfing Vital?

FE, couldn't agree with you more. With that said, doesn't that also speak to where the focus is at JSE? Ryan is looking to race, and JSE is looking solely at the $$.

BTW, Aint nothing wrong with that as far as I'm concerned.

Money/Business or maybe enjoying his life....by doing fun things I would assume.
But like you said.

But yeah,Dungey seemed to be 110% focused on progressing these past 2 seasons.
I dont know how focused James was these past 2 seasons, but it's obvious what he was doing didn't work for him.
So I guess it would be time to fix that to keep moving forward.

And you can bet RV,RD,Reed,Canard & company will all keep progressing and stay focused and keep moving forward.

Why do some of you guys believe Stewart owes you anything?
You and I know nothing of what's going on with his shit...
I'm not even a fan of his and this bashing has become a fucking joke.
Have any of his choices personally affected your life, you speak as
If he's personally affected you.

You only know what you know from other disrespectful people like
Yourselves talking shit on message boards.
Check your perception, why do you think this way?

It's easy to get sucked into the negativity around here, I've done it
Myself. It's not who I want to be, or portray myself as being.

This is one of the greatest problems in society today....
People have no resect for one another. (End rant)

Wasn't there an "official" PR about Stewart to race the MEC months ago?
Yes there was...
Then I think everything fell apart as far the L&M team went.
I think the Casino may have pulled out...also after that.

Heard the casino might be sponsoring MC's & Brooks new team.
Makes sense though.

Actually FATrider is not a accurate insult either. He is very tall and skinny. just sayinLaughing
