So after winning the MXdN in 2009,10 and 11 in his class and overall and struggling the last two years its clear that his career is over... write him off hes done at one race events he sucks hes horrible hes the reason USA lost even though he had the best O/A. Do you idiots dissing Dungey left and right have any intelligence what so ever? You guys are probably the same idiots that said AC sucks after his bad luck in the MXdN after 2011!! I hope RD stays home next year instead of going out of his way to race for us, I hope he is doing SX training like all of his competitors are(RV,DM,JG,TC,etc) minus his USA teammates. Half of the guys raging on him hard are hardcore RV fans just jumping at the chance to put one of are US hero's down, Its not his fault RV is never healthy for this event anymore! Rant over....... PS everyone dissing Dungey can SUCK IT!!!!!!!!!

I think some people take offense when others comment on how a particular rider does a sub-par race. To see RD out there " Going backwards " is something that were not used to seeing at this race. And when someone criticizes him for doing so......were saying " he sucks"?

I know for a fact he didn't ride up to his potential. Not sure if it was him , the bike , freaked out by the track , just not feeling it......not sure. BTW.....this takes nothing away from the Belgium team winning it. They earned every bit of that race and deserve that big trophy. The other GP guys like AC , Big ken , Ferris , Roczen and so forth.......all rode awesome and fought tooth and nail out there. Along with Barcia and Tomac. To me.....RD didn't look right for numerous reasons.

Nobody is saying Dungey sucks, just that he sucked on Sunday. He would agree.

It's okay, life goes on.

I didn't watch and found no race recap. Did Dungey really go 6-7 after decent starts and get passed and yarded by Searle?

Well, here is the start of the MX1/MX3 moto. Dungey ended up 7th, Barcia (top right) ended up 11th.

I have read alot of shit about Dungey on here the last couple days... Your criticism with him is fine its a what the hell is going on type deal, but alot of people on here have taking it to far IMO.

hadn't seen this one yet.

not sure what the hell was up with him, i along with a lot of fans are wondering the same thing. something was up, that's for sure.

hell of a ride that moto from Barcia though, that's a lot of guys he had to get by after being down in that corner

What I say about his performance doesn't mean much.

However I think a lot of people trust and value The Man's opinion on RD7's showing.

Yes tomac was fastest rider in first race, but he got beat straight up by roczen in second Moto and AC wiped the floor with everyone in 3rd Moto

On certain laps and for some parts of each moto he was, but AC dominated the event, he started by Tomac in race 1 and took off into the lead the man was on a complete trail ride, it should not have been that easy for that man to win both races but it was. He could have won by 30 seconds if he wanted to IMO. When AC is at full tilt the only man on earth who could beat him and its no sure thing was sitting at home.

Wow. Well I hope we pick someone else next year. Dungey is fast no doubt but the guy rides w no urgency and after Decosters statement It sounds like he sorta just settled.
Dungey just isn't a RC or RV...guys like them would have found a way. But who else could we have sent? Grant?
Josh Grant just might have done better on this particular day...hes the kind of guy who can step it up for a single race.
Other than him I dont know. What a let down though.

If Dungey would have crashed like Eli I would say atleast he was pushing and giving 100%. I cant say that though. Ill be surprised if Dungey ever wins another championship...not w RV around and guys like Eli coming up.

True dat. Winning a race beats the fastest lap times on all levels. ET showed he's the real deal, but AC was obviously more impressive if winning is the goal and purpose of this event.

What would happened when Grant would not be on the line for his last moto?? The guy is not in shape like his fellow competitors.......

Maybe he's just a little burned out after a long season. I still wouldn't bet against him to be on the podium at A1.

All I know is that on Saturday NOBODY set a faster lap than Eli.

But he didn't win and that is where the payoff is.

ET is a rookie and AC is a seasoned veteran.

He doesn't suck. He has sucked for the last two MXoN though. If it were up to me I'd have a hard time putting him on the team again.

2009: No pressure. Not expected to do well. Delivers for the team.
2010: Comfortable on home soil. Delivers for the team.
2011: Has Villopoto there with him. Delivers for the team.
2012: Needs to be the team leader on foreign soil. Fails to deliver.
2013: Needs to be the team leader on foreign soil. Fails to deliver.

Maybe he just isn't good under pressure for a one off race? Pressure is where Villopoto thrives. He's still the third best rider in the world without question, but to be that terrible by his standards the last two years has to have people questioning his spot on the team for next year.

Pretty bad analogy I think in 2009 he had the most pressure of someone in awhile. First race on a 450 is at the des nations, your the MX1 rider and leader thats why your the MX1 rider and its USA you are always expected to win. 2010 everyone was saying AC was gonna wax him including me and no one was giving him credit. What did he do? He anchored the team and went 1-1 and in 2011 he won his class and it was because RV was there please. He has won the MX1 class three times!! And is at worse are second best rider and at certain races are best.

The most impressive thing about that pic to me is Shaun Simpson, who in the pic is under Barcia's bike while his bike is under Desalle catching Barcia and following him through to 12th.

Think RV & AC are in a class of their own, with a close group of riders not far behind headed up by dungey, desalle, canard, paulin, barcia, Searle, Stewart and dedycker(excuse my spelling) p.s I've only listed the mx1 guys

The guy had an off day. It happens, it's happened to every rider , ever.

The big thing is , he's acknowledged there's a problem , which means he can fix it. I expect him to be angry going forward.

I've been a big Dungey fan since I saw him at an Arenacross in Fresno which I believe was his first appearance with Suzuki. In practice he sucked, by the end of the night he figured it out and it was pretty obvious they had seen something in him that was capable of greatness. He is as fast as RV, what he doesn't do that RV does is up the intensity when needed. He spent this whole season following around riders that RV blew by in 2 corners. If he doesn't step it up his best days are behind him. KTM isn't paying him 2 million a year to be the second best guy, and as the fans of motorcycle racing and customers of the people paying him we have every right to say whatever we want, that's what they are paying him for, to engage the consumers. Dungey has sucked this year, the days of riding below 100% are over. Reed knew it and stepped up, it bit him but I have high hopes that it's still there. It's time for Dungey to also or step aside.

As a long-time Dungey follower and fan, I think he rode well, but not with the same level of intensity I've seen him ride with in the past, and certainly not the intensity level as the guys he was racing with. In the first moto he worked his way up from 18th, passed into 5th and had a great shot at 4th or even 3rd, and then jumped off the side of the track to finish 6th. He seemed flat during his final race. Anyway, I'll always be a fan.
