125's are called beginner bikes. It wasn't that long ago that they were the second baddest ride you could get. In my opinion the step from 85cc machines to 250 4- strokes is to great, and too expensive for the average family to afford, the manufactures, need to keep producing them, even if they are not updated. The after market companies would profit, and it would help our young pilots to progress.
Other people wont.
get with the program.
Id much rather ride a 2 stroke, be less competitive, and
have way more fun. Just my opinion. Doesnt make me
"not with the program."
Even with the Green Technology the Fed Govt wants, There's been Direct Inject two stroke Technology that's passed CARB, the strictest emissions standards in the States.
I would think that the OEMs would be all over it...but one thing.
More Lands are targeted for closure.
Noise is another huge problem.
Wouldn't doubt air testing in arenas and stadiums for motorized sports and either do like the lead ban and keep kids out of polluted areas or shut down all motorized sports.
Who knew that the lead ban would affect our industry?
I think the OEM's know that the growth of local racing is at is ends with this administration. Barbara Boxer head of a Senate Environmental Committee, look for huge land OHV grabs, partner with the head of EPA and some grasshopper will be on Endangered Species List; just happens to be everywhere we ride.
That's how pessimistic I am for OHV future.
Boxer has tons of power.....hope she comes up for re-election in '10 and a REAL formidable candidate opposes her.
Sorry that I responded to your question in my way; there are plenty of good 125s on Craiglist and think this is Yams last year for YZ125.
You are right. There are kids that are not ready for the 85 to 250F switch.
What a shame. When we had 100, 125, 175, 200 and 250s long ago and most all would sell out.
