Do Reed and RV have an advantage...

What about not just testing together, which they haven't done a lot of, but even a bit gives them a head start and benchmark going into A1 to see where they are at, but factoring in bike set up as well. Although each rider has their own likings, a bike set up for someone of the caliber of an RV, Reed, or Stewart is completely different than anyone else in the field. With that in mind, do you think the advantage gained in bike set up (if you think there is one) as well as some testing time together will help close the gap in speed.

Keep in mind, I'm not saying either will be outright faster than James, I just don't see that happening personally, but possibly helping make the speed gap less.

Does having Chad and Villopoto on the same team give them an advantage on helping close the speed gap to James Stewart. I won't argue the fact that James has always been faster (with a few exceptions perhaps), but could having a two powerhouse riders testing and chasing eachother at the practice track be just what the doctor ordered to close the gap?

How could this be perhaps? Throughout my years in the sport, one thing has always been evident for all riders; whether your local novice or top pros in the sport, racing against faster competition will make you faster. Chad and Ryan have an opportunity to test with eachother, chase eachother, learn from eachother, and benchmark off of eachother; which means they should both be getting faster. Who does James have to benchmark himself off of? He has always been the fastest guy in his class for the most part, but his competition never has had two guys so close to his caliber of speed pushing eachother to bridge the gap. I won't doubt that James will still be on the pace, and will likely still have the edge, but do you think Chad and Ryan will have closed the gap in speed?

Do you think this will have any affect on the 2010 SX series?
You don't think RV is going to run with those two? I think you are in for a bit of a surprise then. The kid's got game and he'll be there.

Come on, i think he has to prove it before we give it.

lol, I never said RV was going to beat Chad, but he will be there to keep him honest. Might even win a couple.

IF Reed and RV actually ride together then yes it will push them to go faster. No doubt. But James is James. Who wins and who loses all depends on James. If he wants it, and he's ready, he will win.

I remember a Hill interview last yr where he said he felt like he was riding a top guys pace. He said he felt Gnarly on his bike. Then he rode with Stewart and he could not run his pace for 3 laps. Thats what makes Stewart a machine. RV, Dungey and Reed might be able to match a lap time but to do it for 20 laps is another story. Reed is 0 for his career against Stewart and RV is the 4th or 5th fastest guy at best. IMO There is nothing special about RV when he racing on a SX track.
