Racer X via Twitter- Reed talked to the track crew, and they're now taking out the quad jump. No more quad in Houston.

Obviously the MFG's were scared a 2 stroke would jump it and force them to start manufacturing 2 strokes again.

There was talk that they would change the landing a bit, but I didn't expect this.

Shorty cleared it a couple times at Press Day, freshly healed ankle and all!

I know! It's lame that they took it out because to me it seems like you have a way better run at it then Atlanta because there is a little triple right before it that seems to set you up perfectly to hit it.

Why do some riders get to change the track to suit them?

Safety I suppose. It's not like Chad can't do it.

Safety is cool, hopefully others wanted it changed or gone too. If it was just a Reed thing than that sucks.

I don't think that Chad alone demanded the Durt Wurx crew to remove the quad. People were probably talking about it and they asked him his opinion.

The triple is definitely bigger than a normal triple. Tapia was the first to hit it and took all he had to make it the first time.

As a top level guy he is going to have more people asking him what he thinks of the track over a local rider. The Dirt Wurx guys work with the riders quite a bit.

From a racing stand point Chad would want things that separate the competition not take them out.

if they removed it there was a real good reason.

Yup. It's not like Chad has never jumped a quad before.

I think it's more for fans....

"oh the quad!!""

they could always just make the triple the quad distance.....

I would guess it had something to do with the height of the takeoff and not being able to see what was on the other side. It was HEEYUGE.

That's what they ended up doing here at Houston

And here I thought this was one of those "bike vs. quad" threads.

No, wait, I guess it is.

From the picture on RacerX it looks like its about the same distance to the downside, but they just pushed the 3rd jump into the landing of the 4th to make the top bigger, almost a table landing.... Its still BIG!

I'd like to have you guys go jump it! I know i wouldn't. Then have to do it for 20 laps to stay competitive, sure its cool for YOU the FANS. For the riders its probably not that fun, they're probably scared. Yes, pro's seem fearless in your eyes, but they do get scared, especially the privateers.

there is a big difference between going 65 feet at 15 foot up vs going 85 feet at 20 foot up.... you case it the old way, you're not tweaking things, you're breaking them in half, metal and bones.

i watched them "fix" it, its just like Atlantas now, alot of room for error on the landing, but a big huck....

big balls award goes to Brayton and IT.... first lap, first practice, hucked it. (dont know if they rode press day or not)
