Cooper/Nichols 2021 vs Craig/Lawrence 2022

Edited Date/Time 4/25/2022 9:17am
As some wanted to compare 2021 Webb to 2022 Tomac season, I found Interesting also to compare Justin Cooper and Colt Nichols 2021 season to Christian Craig and Jett Lawrence in 2022. Fact is that Christian is gonna race 10 rounds instead of 9 for the three others. Jett is at 7 rounds (with a showdown) for now so let's compare on 7 rounds...

Colt Nichols

166 points
3 wins
7 podiums
2 fastest time in practice
3 heat wins
37 laps lead
2 fastest lap of the race

Justin Cooper

157 points
3 wins
4 podiums
6 fastest laps in practice
3 heat wins
49 laps lead
2 fastest laps of the race

Christian Craig

171 points
4 wins
7 podiums
5 fastest laps in practice
6 heat wins
75 laps lead
5 fastest laps of the race

Jett Lawrence

169 points
4 wins
7 podiums
5 fastest laps in practice
3 heat wins
95 laps lead
8 fastest laps of the race

Stats are great. But situations can make it appear different.
I think 2022 Craig is better then 2021 Craig. So it would have been an even better battle if this Craig raced 21 colt

Hey kaido sx kept posting this stat. An I believe they were incorrect with Craig's number of fastest qualifier.
I commented on there posts but no1 ever replied.
Your since 2019 has him at 9 I think.
How many does he actually have?

I wish Cooper could've raced west and Colt could've raced east. Both championships would probably be pretty close right now if neither of them would've gotten hurt by now

"...let's compare 7 rounds..."

Jett Lawrence: 8 fastest laps of the race.

He's so fast, he has broken the space-time continuum.

Are you counting fastest laps in each Triple Crown race?

IMO Colt is faster than all of them and was faster than Craig in preseason.

You guys all forget that Colt came from way back to catch and pass the chosen one.

He also passed Craig several times. Neither one of those guys got any faster than they were last year.

but remember Craig taught Jett how to ride when they were at Geico… so he can take credit for his success… so he said himself!

When did colt come from way back? 3 nights after jett crashed out and got injured. He was way off 100% and got beaten by Oldenburg that night also.

Unpopular opinion, I don't think Craig got faster. He is just competing against weaker crop of riders this year and that makes him look better. I don't see him as a front runner next year in 450 either, as some people here are suggesting (based on this year's performances).

Don’t know the round, Colt crashed first lap and came through the pack. He caught Jett and Jett was break checking and blocking him to keep him behind him, he eventually got by. After the race they talked about how fun the race was.

I dig Craig, and I agree 100%. When Craig is constantly pushed for a title, he folds like an old lawn chair.

YeS that’s the round Jett had to ride 2 days after messing his shoulder up at the previous round and pulling out in those Covid 3 races in one week schedule .Jett was playing cat and mouse trying to hold onto a position cause he was injured and could ride his normal pace . . Not really the best comparison , weeks later with Jett’s shoulder still not healed colt was right behind him at Orlando in 2nd and couldn’t pass him all night .

Jett was very much riding injured. He crashed in his heat race at Indy 2. Won the LCQ then decided not to race the main event just a few days before the race you're referring to.
