Have any of you guys been to my brother, Marc's Carlsbad Replica track @ The Ranch yet ?? theranchanzaca.com It's pretty much exactly the same with the elevation even. Marty Tripes is having his Vintage Days there on Labor Day weekend.

He's also working on the topal maps etc for Saddleback Track now, should have it done by the end of winter =)

I expected the Carlsbad to have reviews from riders by now.
I plan to ride there if we make it out there this winter.

Heck of a way to make it on TV back in the day. First time I've seen my wreck in years (7:30 mark). Pretty tough way to head back home to Texas after that...

Oh man....I forgot all about these races. I have a few years of these on VHS I taped. I remember another I have where George Holland won both motos in the 125cc class and I remember a really bright orange type color on Willie Surrats bike. I think RJ mopped up on the 250 class if I remember right. It was his first year on the Honda ( 86' I think ? )

Willie ( Wb173 ) did you break anything in that wreck? damn , that looked nasty!

I broke my tib/fib in my right leg. After a dismal 1st moto, my dad was pretty angry driving all the way from Tx to perform that way on TV. That track kicked my ass!!! He even told me I better go out and "win" the 2nd moto or break my leg. Well, the rest is history.... Dad still feels bad to this day when we talk about it but, we get a few laughs in too.

The fortunate thing was Jim and Anita Button brought me a signed George Holland TX-10 jersey, the same gear I wore. Still have it, and the left TX-10 "new" boot since I replaced the right one they had to cut off.

Great memories indeed.

I've been to the Ranch's Carlsbad track and it is legit! Just like it was back then, except for just a few differences. (very minor) I loved it, felt like I was back on it again! If you are in Southern California, you should definitely go to the Ranch.
