Is this scenario valid? 29 and 800 don't improve too much in their placings in the mains and KTM, desperate to showcase their brand after putting such a big investment in the US team and in their new 350, decides to ask 222 to race a few SXs. Just a thought.

29 is doing the same thing he would have done on a 450.

222 is a heck of an MX rider but he would probably get his a** kicked at SX since its not what he's prepared for at this point. Would it be a help if he finished mid or back of the pack or would it just be another 350 that isn't very competitive?

There was talk of him racing some SX this season but they already decided against it. Cairoli is one of the best motocross racers in the world . But at this point I think it would be a struggle for him just to make the main in AMA supercross.

KTM is having the season they expected. They didn't hire riders who have won before on purpose because if they did bad everyone would blame the bike. Short and Allessi have never won a SX before but everyone expects them to be doing better if they were on a different brand???? Most of the guys finishing ahead of them have won plenty of races before with the exception of Brayton who seems to have figured out what it takes to be at the front every week.

I agree with RGMX-49 that Short wouldn't be doing any better on the Honda and I have no idea what has happened to Mike. He has finished on the podium before and should be doing better, he even got spanked racing in Australia. Maybe it's just a confidence thing. Give it some time and I think they will both improve.

Who says Cairoli would do any better than short in SX? He might only make matters worst.

Shy King, people expected the riders to do better on the 350 because Everts stated that he designed the "perfect bike" and it was supposed to be BETTER than the 450's, therefore the riders should be doing better than they did on their previous Honda and Suzuki...... but..... We know how that worked out.

Yes it won the World Championship... it worked out pretty good.

Everts is pretty smart.

Winning a world championship THERE doesn't mean anything in the USA.
If Cairoli and the 350 are so great, why doesn't he come and win the MX class in the USA?

i think ktm might get cairoli to race an ama national this year - it would be very good publicity for the 350 if he did.
It would make no sense for him to do a supercross as thats not his thing- but if he went to the states for a national he'd be a pretty good bet for a win, even if he only got 2nd or 3rd it would still be good publicity for the 350. It'd be really cool if desalle did a national again this year,he rode great at unadilla last year- be awesome to see cairoli, desalle and a couple of other gp riders all do the same national!

I'm not sure that Cairoli would do better than Alessi, maybe so, maybe not so, but he definitely would not get the better of Short in SX. I don't think Short is doing all that bad; he is on a new bike and the class is uber stacked this season. I expect Short to improve in the next few races and show us more of the guy we know can run a pretty good race.

I think Short is exactly where he should be on a 450 or 350, hes a 7th to 10th place guy this year, the field is just to stacked! Who really expected 800 to do any better? Yeah he had good starts in SX when he rode for Suzuki but he would always fade to 10th+.

Tony loves SX but wouldn't be much better than Alessi at the moment. I don't say he wouldn't improve with lots of training... But there's too much to lose in the GP's, the reason why KTM didn't let him...
