I heard the compression lifter has a burr on it, and it is catching and ripping the whole engine case to shreds. Couple guys from Jersey already have theirs for sale. I'm just joking guys. In case you couldn't tell

Really?
I've been looking at the new 450, KLX though(I'm a woods guy). My smoker dosen't turn for shit, I'd hate to replace it with something that doesen't turn.

I have only heard positive things so far on the 09 KX450 myself.... but I am not sure how many of them are out there right now.

On another note, James Stewart said in his podcast interview that his YZ450 handles and turns WAY better than the KX450 ever did. He said the first thing he noticed was how well it turns. I know he is a Yamaha guy now and all...maybe he is just selling his new brand..... but thats what he said

Nope...but he also didnt come off a stock Kawi either...both factory race bikes. I am not sure how much the race suspention will help with turning either.
The way the bike tunrs is just the way the bike turns.

i bet reedy begs to differ .....
Reed has blamed his bike since day one on it....meanwhile...James has won every single race he has entered on it...including beating reed on what reed says is a way better bike(suzuki).

Very true....but when asked what he thought about the bike...he could have just said he likes it etc... but he went straight on to comment how well it turns...without being asked. It COULD be hiim just selling it....or there could be some truth to it....he does look really good on it, so who really knows...

I don't think Yamaha's or Kawasaki's have ever been the best turning bikes.
Suzuki and Honda have held that honor for a while now.

of course they will. Whats interesting to me is when certain mags post lap times in their shootouts and some of the test riders have faster lap times on bikes that they did not choose as the winner.

I just got my '09 kawi 450. I rode one a couple of weeks ago and switched from a '08 yami because it turned 10 times better.

Maybe I am not a rear steer kind of rider. I feel the new kawi is a neutral turning bike. But the yami is definitely a rear steer bike. I always got a bad push in the center and exit of flat turns on my yami.

I like the stock suspension of the yami better. But with some fluid level changes and springs the kawi will up to snuff in no time.

The power is non contestable. Kawi hands down. I had to put pipe, piston, sprocket, and carb work to get the yami to go. Still not a quick as the stock kawi. I just had to change grips in the kawi.

The fuel injection is the shit!!!. No hesitation.

I had a couple of Vet aged buddies go from Honda to Kawasaki last year. They enjoyed the change of power from Red to Green, and didn't have anything negative to say about how they turn.

On a side note, they both got faster on the track with the change..

stewart sets his suspension dif. than reed. sounds like it fits his crazy bike setup better than the kawasaki.
remember how stiff bradshaws bike setup was? dif. strokes for dif. folks.
this day and age, they all turn great depending on who sets it up for you.

The only problem I've found with my new '09 is that I'm gonna hate to see that big fat 1099 from Kawi at the end of the '09 season from all the contingency its gonna bring.

I have an 08 KLX, It turns pretty well. I just rode it again for the first time in a while and it was a blast. I am messing with the suspension settings, since I never got a chance to set it up last year when I had the suspension re-valved and sprung. You have to re-jet and open up a few things to get it to breath when you get it.

My buddy switched from 08 CR450 to the new Kawi... says it turns as good or maybe better.

You HAVE to soften the forks or stiffen the shock when you first get it (that might make it turn better)

Neither of us have had any problems.... and we both have maybe 6 hours on them. I just put an M4 exhaust on it and it rips!

True but has Kawi announced contingency for next year? I don't think they have.
