Chase Sexton on: Arlington Loss, Future | Transcript 2

In the wake of a hard loss, Chase Sexton faced the sport's media to offer some wider perspective...

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Chase Sexton was without doubt the fastest athlete at the seventh round of 2025 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, held inside of Arlington's AT&T Stadium. Unfortunately, a critical error with just two turns to go caused him to fall from first to third in the overall classification and face a crushing loss. In the aftermath of the well-documented misstep, he faced the press and offered some perspective.

Sexton, who has had the red plate attached to his KTM 450 SX-F at the last three events, has now slipped to five points adrift in the championship chase. Although it is far from ideal to lose ground to Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing's Cooper Webb, he can take comfort from the immense pace that he showcased in Texas. Now, with the eighth round on the horizon, he is fixated on taking a maiden win at the Daytona International Speedway.

Press Conference: You did not say much after the third race, considering all that happened. Now that you have had time to reflect, do you have more to say?

Chase Sexton: No, not really.

Since there is nothing to say today, what does tomorrow look like? How does Chase Sexton put that behind him to stay focused on the larger picture?

When I get on the plane out of here, I leave the results in Dallas and move forward. I have been grinding hard for the last couple of weeks, and maybe it is time for some rest in order to come into Daytona fresh. I need to go back and clear the slate. It has been three weeks in a row of stupid stuff – it is frustrating.

During the track walk, you seemed disappointed that they cut down the lip for the quad. It was something you were doing that the other riders were not, so you had a big advantage. Did it disappoint you?

To be honest, I could have jumped it in the third main. I never felt that I needed it, but it was the most doable for me in the third main. They had tried to cut down the take-off for the three in, but it was still doable and especially when there were ruts in the face of the next one. You got a lot of pop, but it was a little too bumpy in the corner when you landed to be consistent with it.

There have been negatives going around, but there were also a lot of positives tonight. You were the fastest guy and it is only round seven. What positives do you see for the rest of the season?

There is a lot of noise and people talking but, at the end of the day, I judge myself based on how I feel and who I am as a person. It is mentally tough for me to do what I did tonight, especially when I felt really good. Fortunately, as you said, it is only round seven and 10 to go. Next week is Daytona and I have been on the podium there a lot. I would love to get a win there. Now, I can only peel myself off the ground and try again next weekend.

Talk about the decision to race forward in the last main instead of settling for second. Was there a point to prove?

We race to win. I knew I had the overall if I stayed where I was, yes, but I did not really care. I wanted to win the race.
