Salem Added a reply to How Does My Spark Plug Look?

This is the spark after about 20-30 minutes more of runtime with 75%-90% of being on the pipe. I think the spark looks good, but I will say the the insulator tip looks more brown in person compared to the pictures which I think was because of the lighting.
My pervious bike, a 2005 Cr250 had the cylinder ported and polish by Procircuit along with the head decked for 93 Octance. The reason I'm considering the DRT cylinder head is because it has interchangeable domes. The different domes are able to change the compression by changing the domes to run 93, 100, or 110 octane.
I’m thinking about buying a Hitliss kit and pairing it with a DRT cylinder head. If anyone is running this combo I would love to hear some feedback. My yz250 is stock behind a 304 silencer. I previously had a 2005 Cr250 with a cylinder ported and polished by Pro Circuit with a decked head, VForce reeds, FMF fatty, and...

This was after a new spark plug was installing with about 2 minutes of idling time warm up then 10-15 seconds of WOT. I was expecting more color did I do something wrong?

Weird, I've had the opposite experience. The previous owner of my Cr250 was running K2 40:1 switched to HP2 32:1, and it eliminated the spooge problem I was having with my Cr250. It might have also been something to do with the bike being jetted for 32:1 but he was running a 40:1 ratio. Last two bikes I've owned the...

What part of the plug makes you say that the mixture is slightly rich? The bike only has about 1.5 hours of runtime on the new mixture. I’m wondering if my plug will look a lot better once I replace it.

So I just bought this 2024 Yz250 with 28 hours. The previous owner was running 100LL with Castor 927 40:1 with stock jetting with the only mod being a Pro Circuit 304 Slip On. I drained the gas and filled the tank with Honda HP2 32:1 with 93 ethanol free pump gas. I don't have a picture of the spark...

Isn't there a gasket for the RC valve cover or are you referring to something else? I plan on using oven cleaner on the exhaust flap. What about drilling holes for the exhaust bridge? I'm kind of nervous drilling on the piston.

I'd use OEM gaskets. You need 0.06 - 0.08" (1.5 - 2.0mm) solder and your caliper to measure squish, if the squish is larger than the solder, twist the wire to make it larger. The squish is typically 0.075 - 0.082" (1.9-2.1mm) when new, 0.043 - 0.47" (1.1 - 1.2mm) is ideal.

I'm planning on doing a top end rebuild on my 2005 Cr250. I'm not sure to go with Wossner, Wiseco, or OEM. What gasket kits are known to be good? I currently have Maxima Assembly Grease, BikeMaster Scraper Set, HP Tools Premium Digital Caliper, Motion Pro Torque Wrench Adapter, BikeMaster Feeler Gauge Set, and telescoping bore gauges in a cart...

I'll eventually get a JD jetting kit to really dial in the bike. I went ahead and switched from 40:1 to 32:1 because I suspected that's what the bike was actually jetted for. I plan to ride some over the weekend to tell how much of a difference it really made, but from just putting around in my backyard it...

I'm pretty sure that seal was replace at some point on my bike as it came with a pack of seals, and that was the only one that was used. The leak I noticed was from 32. I do have a service manual.

Just to make sure we are talking about the same seal. the seal behind the front sprocket, correct? I guess if I have a leak between the cases I would have to spilt the cases and replace the gasket? I've been thinking about eventually doing a full rebuild with a OEM piston and an OEM crank. I think I'll rebuild...
