So yesterday I put my bike bak together just for the sake of starting her up to hear her run, however after getting the top end and carb back together (top end was just rebuilt as I was picking up the bike) there seems to be little to no compression.....idk if the piston ring is upside down or what but...

If you look closely u can see there’s pretty much nothing for me to grab on to...... Anyone know what this part is called or if I can even buy it separate from the carb?

new issue....Sunday I went out to ride with a couple of buddies and realized that in 1st gear WOT I get about 1/4 of the power I should get.....bike bogs a little then revs but never really “bites” and the powerband never kicks in.....upshift to second it bogs a little but starts to get some power, but right before the...

About halfway through installing the new piston and top end gaskets I’m starting to believe 80% of the problem was the piston.....the old one slid in and out fairly easily this new one is noticeably tighter even without the ring installed....bout to finish up and update u guys a lil later

Poor ring and piston fit to the cylinder will cause the blow by. Your photos show that the engine has been run, however. I did not see the ring photo, but if not properly seated when installed it will get screwed up. The bottom side of the piston also shows a leaking crank seal on the clutch side. Paw Paw

Mind you I watched this piston go in brand new, it’s never been started since, sohow do I have blow by having never started the bike? Also the ring is warped pretty damn bad probably adding to the issue Everything else is fine....wrist pin and bearing look n feel new...

Pull fhe carb before you flip. Youll have to take it apart anyways

I would go ahead and replace it anyways. Always good to replace any gaskets when you take them apart and don’t reuse them. They get crushed the first time you torque them down and you’ll have to torque them more to get the same seal. More than likely, it will leak if you don’t. It’s always good piece of mind to replace a cheap gasket, vs. putting a new top end in and having to take the head back off due to the leak.
