85 CR125, but I bought a clutch cover from Russell Brown that was machined for 86.

Thanks, I’ll keep looking. I had a chance to buy a complete 85 CR125 a few months ago for $800. I should have jumped on it. I’ve got twice that in the basket case I picked up for $100.

In short, yes you will need to remove the impeller. As far as knowing if the cover needs replacing, just as bogrolls stated, it’ll be obvious. The sealing surfaces will be corroded and badly pitted.
