Are those WP50s? Those are awesome forks. But yeah any later year forks/triples will work.

It‘s difficult to say about 1998 with PDS. My 1997 is a Öhlins with linkeage, for the Front Fork the Distance from Top to Axle Center was the same from the 97 Marzocci to the 21 WP Air

Fork swap needs the full front end. Triple clamps, forks, brake caliper and front wheel. Nothing from the 98 will fit on a 08 front end. Rear shock is a different length you would need a 06 shock or older to work on the 98. 02-06 are the better shocks with each year getting better and better. If you could find an Ohlins PDS that would be even better.

Yes you can , i swap a 2021 Husquarna WP Air Fork to a 1997 SX 360 Think the Bearings for the Triple Clamp/ Head Tube are the same from 1987-2022 542.010.81000: SKF 331274
