Josh stroke Started a new thread Yz125 only starts with starting fluid and runs fine after
2/7/2023 7:41am Hey guys, so my 2000 yz125 is only starting when I pour starter fluid in the cylinder. After that it idles fine and starts up first kick. Also, when I ride it, it is very boggy. Carb has been thoroughly cleaned and motor completely rebuilt. I suspect it has something to do with the air/fuel mixture. Anyone have any ideas...

12/8/2022 2:52pm Ok guys the idle is now perfect! I think the guy who owned the bike before me put the wrong cable on it because it’s about an inch too short so ima just order a new cable. Thank you all! Hopefully that’s the last of my troubles on this thing lol

12/8/2022 1:52pm Yea you’re right, I did that and the idle came down to a much lower level-almost a little too low. I’m playing around with it now but think I need a longer cable

12/8/2022 11:53am so how would I go about running a crankcase pressure test? and how can I know if the slider is too high if I cant adjust it anymore...should I just get a new cable? I ran a compression test on it and got 125 psi...does that relate to the crank case pressure test at all?

12/8/2022 8:21am So were obviously getting too much air because when I partially cover the back of the carb (when the air box and subframe are off) with a piece of cardboard, the idle becomes more normal

12/8/2022 8:03am Yea the throttle cable is routed correctly and the idle stay high with choke on or off and no matter how I adjust the idle screw or air screw. I will however see if the idle stays high when I turn the bars. I had a Ktm that did that once...

12/8/2022 7:59am Yea I already adjusted the slide and it is as far down as it will go (about a half inch from the bottom) However, I pulled the reeds and I could see just a tiny crack of light. So I fixed that and now the bike starts first kick every time. The idle is still sky high tho. I inspected...

12/4/2022 6:00pm I tried it out of the cylinder connected to the coil. the spark looked strong, so I don't think it could be the plug...unless maybe my spark is somehow not strong enough? It seems fine though...
