Please be sure to stop in the TXS pits and say hello to Josh. His mechanic Brett, is also a college student about to graduate. They make a good team. Unfortunately, I will not be there this weekend. What kind of research lab do you run? Joey

It looks like I'm a few weeks late to this thread. I admit up front I'm the most biased person in the thread, since I'm Josh's dad. I spoke with Josh this week and he read through all of the posts. He is extremely humbled and appreciative of the kind words and support. He wanted to comment himself, but this...

JAC Added a reply to skill/talent - nature OR nurture

How do you measure someone's "higher capability" to be better at something? There is no empirical evidence for humans being "naturally gifted" to do anything. I think his point, like many others, is there are a variety of variables that contribute to someone being a high achieving athlete, business person, etc. Motorcycles were invented in 1885. Based on the current...

This is from "The Myth Of Natural Ability In Elite Sport" by Dr. Justin Coulson. "Of course the myth of natural ability is a handy cop-out for people not doing so well in their given sport. If I’m not naturally gifted, then my poor performance is not “my” fault. It’s genetics conspiring against me. Researchers have absolutely decimated that myth...

We did it in 2004 in Dallas at the old Cowboy stadium. It was a super fun day for the entire family. That's Erin Bates on the podium with Josh, and Christy from KTM pouring gas in one of the bikes. I think she is still with the KTM Challenge program.

Great article by Matthes. We've watched Alex Ray since he was racing 50's in our area. His good-natured personality and love for the sport is contagious.

I think Cody Webb finally finished and received his Bachelor's Degree in ME from San Jose State University. As he mentioned in the above mentioned interview, it took him a while. I think he's 27 years old. It's an impressive accomplishment considering his training and travel schedule on top of a very tough field of study. Congrats to Cody! I...

As a father whose son is a professional racer and a full time college student at Florida State, I obviously think this would be a great idea. But I have no illusions that it will happen. Carmichael lives in Tallahassee where Florida State is located, and multiple MX training facilities are located less than an hour from the University; including...

JAC Added a reply to Arenacross or national team?

"The only way to get good is to go out and do it." In my opinion, this is a bad idea. The riders in National AX series live and die in the whoops. If you are not really good at AX style whoops, do not go to the AX series expecting to get better at them. It will not happen...
