6/14/2017 4:37pm Hey guys,
I know a few of you have had ankles fused so I thought I'd ask, how do you get on riding?
It's been a year since mine was done(after a year of pain) and it's feeling good. No pain anymore. I am keen to start riding again and was wondering if you encounter any issues while riding? It's...

10/14/2016 1:07pm Good luck with the rehab, yours looks the same as mine was post op. It's a long process but well worth it in the end

8/30/2016 11:09pm Yes the right calf is half the size it should be because you can't excercise it fully with no ankle movement.

8/30/2016 1:09pm Hi there, I had my right ankle fused 5 years ago when I was 26, 1 year after I shattered it casing a double. It took a good year to recover from the op and get walking properly and pain free. I'm now pain free and can do most things except run long distances. I play golf, ride mountain bikes...

1/9/2014 4:27am Sounds like a very fast recovery. My subtalor joint was fused too hence the rod. Hope it all heals well for you. Make sure it's fused properly before riding

10/20/2012 12:45am I was also in cast for 8 months. It's nice to know someone else has been through the same thing and still able to ride.
Thanks for sharing. Hopefully be back riding in 3 months after I work on some more strength.

Apparently it can wear out quickly whereas a fusion is pretty solid and the only downside is a lack of motion, which you get used to very quickly anyway. I was lucky enough to have a surgeon who wanted to get me...

10/19/2012 8:18am Thanks for the input. I was told my ankle would be unlikely to break but it could break above the rod, the next weakest point-obviously what happened to you. But like you said it may have broken without the rod.
Does it feel ok if you accidentally catch it in a corner or stab it down to save a fall...

10/19/2012 7:49am Sounds like your injury was similar to mine. I had 4 surgeries before the fusion. I had an infection which slowed the bone healing and when it finally healed I was left with chronic osteoarthritis which led to the fusion pretty much 2 years after the injury. I was lucky that my graft worked and I didn't get another infection...

10/19/2012 7:21am Sounds like what I had- very stiff and sore in the mornings and limping all over the place.
My original injury was 3 years ago and I was in constant pain until my fusion. Since the fusion there is no pain and I can walk any distance with no limp. I was also worried about the outcome of a fusion...

10/19/2012 5:50am Have you tried yet? I still have a little movement in my forefoot. It really loosened up after the fusion.
