AtlasBrace Added a reply to It’s time to slow bikes down
7/3/2025 9:45am There are many great suggestions that could and should be implemented - maybe some of them will help - but none of them eliminate crashing. Which is why it inevitably comes down to protection. Trying to convince the entire sport, manufacturers, tracks, promoters, sanctioning bodies, etc to modify rules will be a very long, challenging, and disagreeable road as the...

AtlasBrace Added a reply to It’s time to slow bikes down
7/3/2025 9:05am The problem with physics equations in this application is that they do not solve for injury. The equation is bulletproof when the variables they include are the only factors, but they aren't. In practice, a high speed crash may not result in injury, even if the forces should be exponentially higher due to speed (swapping and being ejected down a...

7/3/2025 8:32am What I was trying to illustrate is that speed is not always relevant to injury. If we can get hurt without speed, maybe we have to look beyond speed. Even a fully neutered sport will not eliminate human error, crashing, or injuries. So long as we are hitting the ground, protection is the only logical conclusion that solves for all...

7/2/2025 9:11pm As long as there is gravity we have crashes. At any speed. And in every imaginable configuration of variables. Life changing injuries can and do still happen at low speeds. And people can walk away at high speeds. The opposites are also true. Increasing speed works in an equation, but that doesn’t mean it’s always the contributing factor in practice...

7/2/2025 6:29pm Don’t have to buy ours. We just want a safer sport like everyone else, so we are trying to do our part - with products, and conversation.

7/2/2025 5:07pm The point was more about land speed not always equaling greater injury. In any case, riders will continue to hit the ground, in all kinds of ways, regardless of the variables that are changed. Gravity exists, therefore we hit the ground when we crash. Protection is necessary. Even if you only ride 100cc bikes, in an oval, one person at...

7/2/2025 4:27pm There are several. If you don’t think ours is the best, buy another one. Vote with your wallet. Either we do well, or we are forced to make something better. Either way riders are safer, and that’s a good thing.

7/2/2025 4:25pm Our point was isolated high speed is not the issue, it is often safer when isolated (motogp example), other variables are the issue. The speed at which you decelerate is most important. The greater the deceleration, the worse the outcome. So yes, when you add countless variables, or the likely situation of landing into a jump face, that’s a bad...

7/2/2025 10:19am Higher speeds do not result in more intense injuries, its usually the opposite, actually., I know it sounds weird but consider this: TL:DR - The real problem is how fast you decelerate, regardless of land speed. Long answer: The actual "speed" of a crash is governed by gravity - how fast you are falling towards the earth. Due to this...

7/2/2025 9:59am Gravity is not going away. Changing the bikes, tracks, displacement, speed, rider ability, weather, flaggers, or any of the other variables are never ending arguments and opinions - yet NONE of them negate gravity or prevent riders from hitting the ground. The only answer that attempts to solve for gravity is more protection for riders today, and better protection being...

8/27/2024 1:55pm Hey, wheres the spoiler alert on this post Mav? 🤗 More info coming very soon. Along with many more products over the coming 18 months. Yes Eddie and other 661 crew are involved, more info here: https://atlasbrace.com/pages/about-us When Eddie was at 661 they had many versions of neck rolls, and also developed the first chest protector with built in neck...
AtlasBrace Added a reply to Return of Neck Braces?
5/21/2024 2:17pm Would you recommend riding without knee pads? Just to be transparent, 6D used the test rig that we had built for our brace testing, at the same test facility. Helmet testing (for certification purposes) is extremely limited in scope. For those interested, this info may help: https://atlasbrace.com/pages/testing https://atlasbrace.com/pages/design https://atlasbrace.com/pages/myths

9/26/2019 11:44am First, thank you for your support! Yes, there have been. One thing to remember is that neck braces are only designed with the intention of aiding your Cervical spine (basically, just your neck). It is still very possible to damage other areas of the spine (Thoracic, Lumber, etc) as well as your Cervical spine while wearing a brace - they...

9/26/2019 10:27am People crashed, the ambulance service evaluated them and recorded the data. The numbers presented reflect everything they saw relating to neck injuries in the past 10 years. The numbers are from a generated report from their data entry system. That is as real as it gets... You are welcome to reach out to the people who recorded the data, I...

9/26/2019 9:49am You are correct about one thing, this is not advanced stuff. The forces on your neck without a brace on are significantly higher. It's relatively easy (although expensive) to measure with the right equipment in a lab. And very repeatable. And could be performed by anyone, and produce the same result. Anyone who is willing to fund it is welcomed...

9/26/2019 8:48am This could not be further from the truth. Multiple manufactures have mentioned up to 45% reduction in forces (lab), and real world data computes numbers as high as 89% less head/neck injuries among neck brace wearers. 45% less collarbone injuries as well. The reason we (or any safety company) cannot claim anything is because we would be sued 10 times...
AtlasBrace Added a reply to New conclusive data on Neck Braces
12/14/2018 2:09pm We can go down an endless comparative rabbit hole of things that don't relate, we will still arrive at the same conclusion that the data shows, regardless of how it shows it.
AtlasBrace Added a reply to New conclusive data on Neck Braces
12/14/2018 1:44pm The conclusion based on the numbers in the report is still the same, regardless of how it's written. You can keep pushing for some utopian report, and no matter how much evidence is presented you can still dream up some new variable that is omitted to help fit your narrative. "the report is poorly written" is not a counter argument...
