Matty Dowell news...

I received a call from Katie McGuire a few minutes ago. After practicing at GH today she stopped to see Matty, and he woke.


She ask him to squeeze her hand, and he did, she asked if he wanted a kiss, to wiggle his fingers he did...she told him to flip off her brother Jake, and Matty, sat up in bed and flipped him off.


I realize this may mean nothing to some, but to those of us close to Matty, it means a lot...I just had to share. The Dowell family wishes to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

Outstanding, been thru this twice. With response like that this quick he will recover quicker than most.

Thanks to all for the prayers that have been sent to Matty. As you know he is awake and that was truly an amazing site. As of 9:30pm last night, Matty was responding to all of the things I was asking him. He is breathing on his own, sitting up and moving everything. He speech is jacked because of the ventilator that he was on. He was however able to tell me somethings. It seems like he is as determined as ever. An MRI was done on his neck and he has a small fracture of C-6 ( thank you leatt brace for saving him) and some ligament issues in his neck. The doom and gloom from the doctors is that he will require extensive rehab., but judging by what I saw, I'm not so convinced. Our family would like to thank all, for everything that has been done on behalf of Matty, you guys rock !!!!!
